Remove required field State

Recommended Posts

Hi

How can I remove the required field State at the registration site?

We do not need States in my country.

When I look at Localization -> Countries and Edit myCountry (Denmark) it has no requirements on State - why is it then on my registration page?

And how do I get it invisible again - (It was fine a few months ago)

Thanx in advance

Is it the Theme that makes trouble

See the the field is wrapped with:
<div class="required id_state form-group unvisible" style="display: block;"> == $0

how come is it visible, still? What is going wrong?

thx

Any hints, please? This is annoying - it's like the browser show things that shouldn't be seen - what could be wrong?

I just an hour ago found out that if I change the Directory in the chosen Theme to default.bootstrap the State field disappears!

How can I make it work for the chosen Theme/template?

Thank you El Patron.
I have tried to change without an appearance result.

As a total Presta-newbie I still haven't found the logic how this engine works - a changed address.tpl or authentication.tpl file shows no visual effect in browser. 😢

As Presta-newbie I haven't dared to reinstall the theme - as I,  for sure, don't know the impact it can have on the rest of the site.

Can a Theme-install go wrong? and is it always reversible?

Hi, create a copy of your shop that you can test with.  This way you can make changes on test that you can confidently move to production.  Most new and sometimes established shops have been destroyed applying change to production.
