[SOLVED] Problem with Live edit -

Recommended Posts

Hi, when I try to use the live edit i am getting the error message 'failed to load module list,' and it won't let me save the new positions. When I click save I get the error message 'unable to save module position.' Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks,
David

Hi,

Problem has already been report.
When you use Live Edit you must be connected to the back office. If the domain name of yout back office is differant than your front office, Prestashop considered that you are not connect, causing the error in Ajax requests.

If the problem persists thank you to sending me a private message with FTP access to your site so I can debug.
Thank you to indicate your problem in the message.

Hi ... I'm a newcomer with prestashop v 1.4.0.17 and i have the same problem, my live-edit function isn't working.

Hope you can help me out.

I transferred the data from my xampp (PC) to the provider-server and everything works well, but the live edit not.

Thanks,
Michael

I have same problem. And I'm always connecting to the same domain with BO and FO, and I'm of course connected to BO when using Live Edit, how would I start it otherwise?? From my home computer when I accessing BO with Firefox I get this error, if I use IE there is no error. At work if I access with Firefox and IE there is no problem with Live edit function ... so what could be the problem here, something with cookies or temporary files?

Vincent,
As this is a forum specifically designed to help folks find solutions to problems with this software.

It also is not working for me, same exact problem. if there is a solution can you please post it to share it with everyone.. I saw you comments about different name being logged in.. I have https:domain name for example and www.domain name with and without https.. either way I log in it does not fix the problem.

I therefore have emailed you my ftp info and my acess to the site and no response yet.

I don't mean to be a bother and I know your probably busy so if you can provide the answer on here... I am sure the other 132 viewers of this forum question may also be able to correct issues they have as well as myself please.

Thank you kindly for your help!

Regards,
Tina

Everyone...the solution to this problem has already been posted. You must log into the back office with the "www"

This means when you are at the login screen for your site it should read:
http://www.yoursite.com/yourshopname

If you leave out the"www" when logging into your site you will most likely experience problems when attempting to use the live edit feature.

Thanks for the reply but that is how I am logging in, it still dosent work

If you give me a temporary login to your shop I would be happy to help you. You can create logins with minimal privileges within the prestashop admin panel.

Greetings from newbie,

I have the same problem ie unable to edit live. I log in via the backoffice url. It states failed to load module list.Kinda lost here. Please advise. Thank you

regards,

Odeelia

Did you log into the back office of your site with “www”?

For example did you log into yourshop.com/yourshop or did you log into www.yourshop.com/yourshop?

You must log into your site with the "www"

This solved solved the problem for me, I hope that it does the same for you.

Thank you for your swift reply, blaze. This is strange, as after adding the www. , the prestashop.com page load up. I wonder if I have done something wrong after purchasing a domain name.

odeelia

My problem solved.
I installed my website using softaculous in the cpanel without www, so, if I browse the frontend with www, it will be redirected to http:// domain. com

However, for admin url, it is not redirected

Today, I typed http:// www. domain. com/ admin
then I try to run live edit, and get '..failed to load module list' (the live edit automatically go to http:// domain. com --> without www)

So, I logout the admin

Then I type http:// domain. com/ admin
then I run live edit, and problem solved.

-sorry for my bad English :(

Guys the best solution is just to upgrade. I fixed my shops pile of issues by just upgrading. It was scary and I had to re-do my css but fortunately I kept a list of the changes and with the new version 1.4.4.1 it is allot easier to see where to edit in firefox with firebug.

Ultimately, everything I had done to core files to fix the sites was fixed with the upgrade including this issue.

Hi Guys,

first: sorry for my bad english, but i realy hope u understand me...

I know this post is nearly one year old, but i have the same problems with "Failed to load module list" when i wanna start live edit.

I use Prestashop 1.4.7.0. I know this is not the latest Version, but one of my addons (Google Merchant Center v1.4.2) does only working at 1.4.7.0...

I try all ideas of this thread: the same domain name, diffrent browser, browser updates... but its not possible to find the problem...

I use a other theme from addons.prestashop.com but i try it with the orginal theme: -> same error.

If anyone can help me, he get a big hug!!! ;-)

Go to your back office/preferences/seo & urls  check your shop name if it start with ( www. you must login to backoffice like www.your shop name/admin----- ) what ever it is.

If your shop name starts like only (shop name then shop name/admin-----)

For example :         example.com/admin1234, Or www.example.com/admin1234

Try it your issue will be solved
