  1. I have been unable to locate the USPS module that has always been provided with Prestashop and, after a lot of research, I've found that it has been abandoned in 1.7. The 1.6 USPS Carrier module cannot be installed. It looks like the original USPS carrier module that has always been free is now in the module store for 1.7 for a mere $65 so I am forced to use a paid option that I cannot currently justify... For those looking to configure their carriers without using a paid module (because when starting a business every dollar counts and we can't always spend on a shiny new module) I have two ways I am currently handling it. For most products I am selling I am rolling the shipping cost into the item and offering free shipping. For products that I want to price more competitively I am offering a flat rate shipping cost and pricing each product respectively. This is limiting for international shipments because of the wide range of possible shipping cost. However, estimating the cost on USPS.com to some of the most popular countries is enough for me to try and offer specific rates for each product. Sometimes this forces me to create many carriers but this has been the only way around getting the paid modules. For anyone that can only offer priority options because of weight, I highly recommend creating a carrier for each priority mail flat rate box and use the measurement options in the carrier setup. This will be fairly easy for domestic shipments within the US. For international shipments it will require quite a bit of leg work but you can go to USPS.com and estimate the shipping cost to multiple countries (based on the regions in the carrier setup page) and use those costs. Hopefully it will get you close. Hopefully this helps those having issues configuring their carriers. The flat rate shipping option is the better choice because rolling shipping cost into each item can be very unfair to customers that purchase multiple items. It just requires a lot of estimating and legwork. I know it's difficult if you have a lot of products and there may be mistakes but you can always fix them and reconfigure as issues arise. If anyone has suggestions on carrier configuration to accurately estimate USPS rates domestically and internationally please share them! I would like to add that I have used Prestashop for 5 years. I have successfully setup stores not only for myself but for other companies and I find it REPREHENSIBLE to abandon support for an important part of the core system. Prestashop is a free platform and it has now become something much less than that by forcing users to purchase modules to gain access to the full functionality of the system. Forcing users to setup all of their carriers is no different than asking users to build their own module. If a user was to accurately estimate USPS First Class, USPS Priority Mail, USPS First Class International, and USPS Priority Mail International rates according to the sizes and weights of all of their products this is NO DIFFERENT than forcing a user to do the legwork that the original module did in an instant by communicating with the USPS API. The original prestashop USPS shipping module was barebones at best but it accessed shipping rates enough to allow the average user to setup shipping without having to FEAR losing money by misconfiguration or bad estimation. We always had the option to purchase a better, more feature rich module once our company became successful. However, now I am forced to restructure my entire pricing system or spend money that I can't justify on a module that I don't know will work for my needs just to have a functional online store. I was so excited for the release of 1.7 but this lack of support on a free platform has been disheartening at best. I have been deciding whether to downgrade to 1.6 or move platforms altogether...
  2. As I understand it, the USPS Carrier Module is supposed to be included in the initial installation of Prestashop (I installed version 1.6.1.4). I have read various forms, searched all throughout my Prestashop Back Office, especially thoroughly searching through my Modules. How can I find this module? Am I mistaken in thinking it should be included with Prestashop? Does Prestashop 1.6 > require a paid version of the USPS module? Note: I have also searched through all of my Prestashop files and folders and I have nothing resembling a USPS Module.
  3. It seems like neither my UPS or USPS real-time shipping modules are working properly. I know shipping has always been an issue since I started using Prestashop but at one point, I had some functionality. Does anyone else have any issues or information about possible changes in APIs, functioning, etc.? Also, both of these items call out to other sites. What has to be open on the server to ensure they work properly? Thank you. Jonathan
  4. I just launched my shop yesterday and found a problem. Out of the 300 products we offer, a few do not behave in the shopping cart when a customer tries to check out. I have encountered 3 distinct problems which do not overlap with each other: 1. Shipping will increase $6.65 per item, regardless of the weight or dimension of product. 2. No carriers will be available 3. A free shipping promo code results in no carriers being available (this even happens with products which behave themselves). Other information to help you help me: - Using PS version 1.6.1.4 - We use just one shipment module, the All-in-one USPS made by Prestashop. - This module works perfectly when I have any of the 200+ non-problem products in the cart. - When I compare the problem products with the non-problem products, there is no difference in the settings. Is this a problem anyone else has had? How do I fix it? Do I need to buy one of Presta-Shop's support plans? I don't do any coding myself, so I can't fix it by looking at the code. Thanks for helping this newbie!
  5. Why I could not find the "USPS CARRIER" module in the addons, but it comes in the new version of prestashop 1.5.4.1? where I can find help to this module? I only downloaded the new version of prestashop, from prestashop.com and I installed on my server (www.SITEGROUND.com), it comes with a new shipping and logistic module, and there is a new version of carrier "USPS CARRIER". I have the user from usps web page. When I try to finish the configuration, show up this problem: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prestashop could not connect to USPS webservices : Error 80040b1a : Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server. Connect to USPS Module Status Connect to USPS is not configured yet. You must: 1) Fill in USPS User ID and orignation Zip Code in the "General Settings" form 2) Select you available delivery services 3) Webservice test connection : Error 80040b1a : Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server.
  6. The supplied USPS and UPS modules are worthless and cost way too much money to the store owners for shipping packages. I'm willing to contribute, time and effort to help straighten out the mess not only for Prestashop but the others as well. I'm very good with the USPS API. A shop owner shouldn't have to go to a third party program to ship packages, add insurance, print labels and have tracking all within the store. So right now I'm figuring out what needs to be done and trying to get insight from the Prestashop core writers themselves and see why. Is it so you can sell add-ons? Which doesn’t handle very much? And the thinking that every item should be in it's on package with its own shipping. You guys are kidding right? The bigger picture is you’re not the only shopping cart doing it which is weird. A carrier should only need to know the number and packages sizes, whether it palletized or not etc. How the can pik it up ship it and drop it off. They don’t need to set regular or larg for defining a package. All the cartonization, palletization and container information (for international shipping) just needs to be in a different set of classes. The only real info for the carrier is what type of container they are to expect, individual boxes, a pallet or container. There’s a simply lot more to it! I believe instead of seeing all of the different carriers mailing options it information should be displayed on a different tab or something. And if I do it with the Prestashop developers I won’t charge a thing. If I do it as SAS or my own modules I will but I will promise to keep all the standard US companies USPS, UPS and FEDEX in for free. I wouldn’t be anywhere near the cost of like Shipwire, Stamps.com or Endicia! I promise I’ll better handling for split shipment and additions for products that can’t be package with other product. I’ll include nesting option as well as true to the actual package(s) to be shipped. So any feedback from the Prestashop developers? I know I can write a lot more right now. I’m in the requirements planning phase and I might put up a site for suggestions etc. What do you all think!!!
  7. Hi, we are using USPS carrier module, and it seems like the shipping calculations are off. Regardless of the distance from the store, shipping cost is calculated to be $5.95, and it doesn't change even if the location nor the weight is changed. We are using Priority Mail in Commmercial Rate, Packaging Size is Regular, Type is SM flat rate box, Machinable True, and Calculation Mode is All in one package. It looks like the shipping price is fixed at the base price, and it won't change based on the calculations. If we could get a possible solution that would be awesome. Thanks,
  8. I am in the US and my international customers can register an account successfully but when they go to check out, it says no carriers available. I am using the USPS Module and the only selections I have for shipment are those in the US (first class, priority mail, express mail, etc.) How can I either get international customers to be shown international ship rates via USPS OR get USPS to offer me more options for shipment? My website is http://www.weebittrendy.com
  9. I've configured all 3 modules to their site and such and it seems all happy. When i go to delivery methods on the front office none of them show up though. I feel like i have tried everything but i must be missing something. For the time being i just created my own carrier and named them ups and such. It would be way better if i could get these modules to work though. PLEASE HELP
  10. Hi, when I installed the usps module, I chose commercial rates for priority and express email, but the front end is using retail rates instead. Any ideas? Thanks!
  11. I have upgraded from 1.4x to 1.6. lproblem is I did it as an install instead of an upgrade. Consequence was I lost all my images. they are now re loaded, but then I had a problem with shipping, kept getting error message 'cannot deliver to this address'. Got that sorted with help, but now, having uninstalled and reinstalled the two shipping modules, when I click on 'configure' message shows 'cannot connect to webservice'. What to do please? Thanks
  12. Hello Sorry I decided to rephrase this post. Ok 1st up. After adding the USPS Module i have went in and checked it out. I'm in the " First-Class Mail (2-3 days) and it is showing the locations for Asia, Africa, Europe and ect. I don't think anyone is going to be trying to purchase from these countries I'm in Northern America. But i think it will take more than 2-3 days to get there from here. So do i uncheck those or do i leave them alone. I don't want some one to get upset becuase they order from Africa and it takes like a week to get there. What would you do? 2nd up. Do i need to go to the USPS website and look up thier price list for different speeds and wieghts and package sizes and enter that information. or does the USPS Module do that for you? Thank You!
  13. I'm using connect to usps module on v1.6.0.9; after solving other issues, I still have a problem with first class mail option showing up at check out. 1 page and 5 page checkout included. Can someone tell me what problem might be? I should clarify- first class mail option is not showing up on checkout as option. Only Priority and !st class out of the three I have configured. Thanks
  14. Hello everyone, I'm running Prestashop 1.5.6.2 and I'm trying to set up shipping. I've installed the Fedex Module 1.3 and USPS module 1.3.2. I've made FedEx and USPS accounts and entered the creditials asked for. I got the Fedex module to say "Connect to Fedex is configured and online" and the creditials it used was account, meter number, password and authentication key. I still need to call USPS because I'm getting an authorization failure. My main question is what are these modules supposed to do? In my shipping -> Carriers I see lots of FedEx and USPS options now. I'm thinking the module put them there but I honestly can't remember what it looked like before. In Products I entered a Width, Length, Depth, and Weight for an item. However, I was having problems with it not showing my Fedex carrier options on checkout. If I go into FedEx ground on Shipping ->Carriers. I was able to make it show up during checkout by putting a number in the range for North America. But it doesn't look like the image in the bottom of the page here: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/prestashop-15/pshop15-modules/configure-fedex-module Mine just has a general truck and doesn't say Fedex. If I disable my FedEx module, it still appears so I wonder if it isn't using the module at all? If I do need to edit each one in Carriers, how do I figure out the correct number for the range? What are the modules supposed to do? I mean what part do the modules take care of and what part do I need to setup in Prestashop? Thanks so much for all the help!
  15. Hi all, I'm trying to get the UPS and USPS modules to work correctly, but am having some odd issues. 1. Only the first calculation seems to work properly. If I update the quantities or add new products to the cart, the shipping price either doesn't change or only increments by $1 (even if I make it qty 100, etc). 2. I find it annoying that before the shipping is calculated, it just shows the handling charge as the full shipping charge in several places (after adding to cart and at the top of the checkout page) 3. Is there anyway to let a user get a calculation with just a zip code at the top of the page before entering all of their info? For what it's with, this is on a brand new install, only 2 products, etc. I have active accounts with UPS and USPS that are returning correct values for single items, so that seems ok. I'm using one-page checkout, if that matters.
  16. After updating to 1.6.0.7 the tracking url that I used in the shipping carriers doesn't automatically add the tracking. To make clearer, when I clicked on the tracking # in the BO, the USPS site would open up with the tracking # automatically entered and the tracking displayed. Now it just opens up to the generic/basic USPS tracking page without the tracking # entered or any tracking information. Here is the url I've been using: http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/[email protected] Also, it seems when I apply a change to the url, it doesn't affect orders that have been placed already. The url stays the same no matter what I change it to. Not sure if the url change only affects new orders or if it will change previous orders. Since the forum automatically shortens the url, below is what I use with http in front of it. trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/[email protected]
  17. I am looking for someone who can write a module for use in my PS storefront. I'm looking for a module using USPS to: 1) Calculate rates for different types of shipping based upon product information 2) Allow for selecting specified shipping service 3) *Pay for postage online - If possible 4) Create Shipping label for shipping Properly format Customs forms for international shipping Simple click through printing 5) Add tracking information to current order Change order status to "shipped" 6) Send shipping confirmation email to customer 7) Allow for cancellation / refund if label (if prepaid postage is possible) 8) Change order status to "delivered" after confirmation from USPS I'm assuming this module may have already been created as it seems like a "no-brainer" for US based merchants. Pleas reply with your thoughts and a overall price for creating this module. I know there are several label modules and USPS modules currently available, I just have not find these integrated. I currently use a 3-party shipping provider for these services but I would like to have it "in-house" if possible.
  18. Hi guys , I need help setting up USPS international shipping for my website, the USPS module doesnt have the option for International shipping, anyone can help me?
  19. I have installed the USPS carrier module, and have entered in the information provided by USPS. The connection works, so no problem there. I have weights set for each of my products, and want to charge shipping based on those weights. If the customer puts one item in the cart that weighs 1 ounce and a second item in the cart that weighs 2 ounces, I want the shipping rate to be calculated on the total weight of 3 ounces (ie $2.32 for total shipping). When I test this in my online store, shipping is being calculated separately on each item instead of on the total weight of both items (ie $4.64 for total shipping). Do I need to go into Shipping in my backend and set weight ranges and assign shipping fees to each range? If so, why? This seems to defeat the purpose of having the module installed. If anyone has this working could you please respond? I would love to get this working. Thanks in advance! Christy
  20. Hello all, I'm looking for some quick help if you have a second. Someone who's been using prestashop and the usps module for a while should be able to help me figure this out. Most items I have in my shop are 13 ounces or less, so I offer free shipping with FIrst Class mail, but I also give the option of using Priority, or Express if the client wants to pay for faster shipping. If the client buys 2 items that will usually equal more weight then First Class mail, so it defaults to Priority Mail which I also offer free, but only if the products are too heavy for First Class. So How can I offer Free shipping with First Class Mail up to 13 ounces, and have Priority and Express not be free, but once the weight is over First Class and the carrier is disabled then Priority is free and Express Mail still charges? I'm trying to work in out under the carriers tab in 1.5.6.2 version. I know I can make the carrier Free by clicking the button, but that means it's always free and is not weight dependent. I need First Class mail to show only when the weight is less than 13 ounces and then disappear (it's always free) and have Priority mail be free only when the cart weight is above 13 ounces. I tried to go into the different carriers and that didn't work the best. Any Help???? Please!!!
  21. When I set up Carriers, whether I set my own, or use a module like "USPS Module" I get the following error at check out "No carriers available." I have truncated (reset) all of the tables in my database related to carriers several times (as suggested by other forum posts) and still no go. When I use the USPS module it makes a connection to USPS servers and everything runs okay. Also, if I use the 5 step checkout and turn on the Shipping Estimate Module, all my carriers show up in the checkout process to compare ONLY. When you continue on to select a shipping meathod, I still get the same error. I'm not much of a programer, but I understand the basics. I just can't figure out why it is not recognizing my carriers on check out. Any ideas?
  22. Using 1.5.4.1: I have installed the USPS shipping module, have the module "live" and connected, and shipping options are available upon checkout on any product. Issue: When I purchase goods through the module I am unable to find out how to create shipping labels. Is there a tutorial on this? I appreciate any feedback!
  23. Does any one know which MySql Table is used to store the merchants postal code. Is it `ps_address`? If yes I all I see is generic addresses from major companies in that table. I am from FreshSoftware.net/usps/ and I need this information to developer a USPS Domestic Rate Calculator form a client.
  24. I updated my install from 1.5.6.0 to 1.5.6.1 and I now cannot install any of these three shipping modules, USPS, UPS or FedEx. When I click on the "install" button it gives me this error: http://i.imgur.com/8QOd6SD.png I looked at the site's error log and I got this: mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Warning: is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/toy-fun.com/httpdocs/modules/uspscarrier.zip/) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/toy-fun.com/:/tmp/) in /home/toy-fun.com/httpdocs/classes/module/Module.php on line 1261, referer: http://toy-fun.com/Backoffice/index.php?controller=AdminModules&token=a27543786ac340d164eba77ff0e085f6&install=uspscarrier&tab_module=shipping_logistics&module_name=uspscarrier&anchor=anchorUspscarrier Thanks, Don
  25. In setting up my new store, I have run into an issue with setting up any shipping modules. All I can do is to create a flat rate carrier from scratch, but want to use USPS and UPS modules. With each module, after entering my credentials and API keys I get the following message: I have verified that allow_url_fopen is ON with my host. Is there some other setting that needs updating? Want to get the shipping modules set up before I go live. Thanks!
