Hi, How can I add / create a new root category? When I try to add a new Category isn't possible to unselect the root category to create a new root. When I create a new store (multistore section) there one part that says "This is the root category of the store that you've created. To define a new root category for your store, please click here." but when I click there go the category page without any chance to create a new root category or transform the category to be a root. Can I have some help on this, or is not possible to create a new root category?

Hi there. We are running for the second time into problems creating a new store with multistore activated. The problem we run into is the following error message: "You need to select at least the root category." The source of the problem is located in what you see here: You will notice that the checkbox is missing for the root category "Online print shop". Once I change the category root to the original category root of the general store category (start - prestashop default), I am able to select the root category as visible in here: You will notice that the checkbox to select the root category is available for selection, which in the other case wasn't. The root category which I want to select ("Online print shop") is the root category of another online shop which is already working with that root category. Can somebody please help? Thank you very much in advance!

Après avoir galéré pour changer le répertoire d'installation de mon prestashop 1.6, j'ai décidé de poster ce petit tuto qui j'espère va en aider d'autres. Je ne suis pas du tout expert alors si vous avez des suggestions ou améliorations,.... Comment passer de www/dossier1 à www/dossier2 (www est le root sur OVH, il peut être remplacé par autre chose ... root...etc) Et faire en sorte que l'url soit nomdedomaine/dossier2 aller dans préférences > SEO &URLS remplacer à la ligne chemin de base par dossier2 désactiver les urls simplifiées (par précaution mais je n'en suis pas sur) se connecter en ftp et remplacer dossier1 par dossier2 vider le cache (/cache/smarty/cache & /cache/smarty/compile Supprimer tous les fichiers et dossiers sauf le index.php s'il y est.) Le nom de dossier est maintenant changé. (si besoin, vider le cache de son navigateur ou plus simple faire une navigation privée) Maintenant pour modifier l'url dans le dossier www/ (ou root....) créer un fichier .htaccess comportant #ensemble de lignes nécessaires sur OVH Options -Indexes Options -Multiviews Options +FollowSymLinks SetEnv REGISTER_GLOBALS 0 SetEnv PHP_VER 5 #redirection vers sous-dossier RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^dossier2 RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.nomdedomaine.com/dossier2/$1 [R=301,L] et voila, en théorie cela fonctionne! et pour rappel lors du changement de base -
Can I delete the 2 root categories? Or can I give them another (negative?) ID? I need to import a .csv file that is exported by another software and it contains categories with IDs 1 and 2, which are already used by the 2 root categories. These IDs are also used in the products.csv so I can't skip those lines or give them another number because then I need to rename all products.category_id every time there's an export/import (every 24 hours). So, can I delete the 2 root categories? Or can I give them another (negative?) ID? Or how to make sure ID's 1 and 2 become available to imported categories? Thanks for any quick help.

Hallo, momenteel bereid ik een shop (Prestashop 1.7.2.4) voor die geïnstalleerd staat in een submap en moet nadien op dezelfde server in een andere submap zal moeten worden bereikt. Bijvoorbeeld: www.server.com/temp, nadien moet deze bereikbaar zijn via www.server.com/shop. Ik wil dus de simpelweg de hoofdmap oftewel de "root folder" wijzigen van "temp" naar "shop". Als ik het goed begrijp uit de documentatie is dat enkel: in de database de tabel "ps_shop_url" de fysieke mapnaam (veld: physical_uri) wijzigen van "/temp/" naar "/shop/" de mapnaam via ftp wijzigen van "temp" naar "shop". Als ik er naartoe surf, nadat ik de cache leegmaakte van mijn browser, krijg ik toch een fatal error en een warning met duidelijk een verkeerd (oud) pad naar de vorige map "temp" iets als: Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/data/sites/web/*********/www/temp/config/defines.inc.php' (include_path='.') in /data/sites/web/********/www/temp/config/config.inc.php on line 33 Wat zie ik over het hoofd? Dien ik nog iets van caches elders te ledigen of nog andere aanpassingen te doen? -
Buongiorno a tutti, molti anni fa è stato consigliato di non inserire direttamente nella root il sito principale, ora, dato che vorremmo cambiare hosting ecc.. stiamo pensando di metterlo nella root! Cosa consigliate? Io credo che a livello di indicizzazione sia la cosa migliore ma per gli altri aspetti? Oltre a questo quando cambieremo tutti i parametri sicuramente ci saranno delle pagine linkate ancora con le directory vecchie ma per quanto riguarda i prodotti in questo caso non ci saranno problemi...giusto? o dovremmo "cambiarne uno per uno"? Prestashop 1.5.4.1 step 1. Add a new root category, let's say Auto Sticker with a child (or not), dragon step 2. add that category to top horizontal menu step 3. add a product in that category (or not) Results: New category is displayed in horizontal menu but when I click on auto sticker nothing happens, no error, like a home button, when I click on child I receive 404 error. (product is displayed in new products module area) If I add a category from mega menu it's fine, problem is only for another root category. Hi Hoping someone can help me make a minor code change. I'm upgrading from an old version of prestashop with 3 languages which are all categorised in the root directory. The new version of prestashop separates each language into it's own folder (which I know is better if I was starting fresh -but this is an old site with established google position). When I enable anything more than the base language (english), it displays the URL as domainname.com/en/folder instead of domainname.com/folder. If I type in the old address it does forward to the new, but I really can't risk the loss of my google position (and have read horror stories about change of URL) as in-effect every URL would be changing (and that's too big a risk for me). I'll be much more comfortable making the new website live with the same URLs. What I'd like to do, if someone can help tell me what I should do... is continute to display english in the root folder and the other languages in their respective folders. This must be possible because when I switch off the extra languages, it displays the main language in the root folder (as it does on the old site). I'm guessing some code change could trick it to show English in the root folder and not in /en/ folder and so the website (in English at least) will have identical URLs that it does now. Any advice/suggestions to do this appreciated! thanks Andrew

Basically I'd like to display my base URL without the /en/ subfolder on my default language (as it does with sub languages switched off). As soon as more than one language is enabled, I can't find a way to tell prestashop that I want the default language to stay at the root. I'm sure there's some way to code this, but no idea how -any ideas?? This is important for my site as I'm upgrading from an old site and don't want the URLs to change... Hello, can anybody save my life please? Yesterday I added category on left column menu and suddenly products disappear. When I go on Catalog->Products I see error window -> Some tabs was not loaded correctly, do you want to reload theme? (in code is throw new PrestaShopException('Root category must be an integer value');) When I click in products Associations I didn't see category to choose. On the forum I read that this happen because of Root category. I tried add new parrent category (I change for multistore) but I didn't see nothing when I added. I tried to change a file throught (blockcategories.php) FTP but nothing happened. Do you anybody how I can add new parrent cattegory or change Root category value? I think this is main cause. Thank all people who try to help me.

Hello, does anyone can help? I have deleted everything in Catalogue > Categories. Then I added new two categories for example: cars, boats. But I want add new subcategories. So I click on that category, then I add new but I can not expand parent category, because there is nothing. It seems that I have to create something like new root. Thank you for your help.

Ho installato PS seguendo le istruzioni e grazie all'aiuto ricevuto qui sul forum. L'installazione, però, fa sì che il negozio si apra non sull'url MIOSITO.IT ma su MIOSITO.IT/PRESTASHOP. Ho letto alcuni altri post con l'identico problema ma in nessuno è indicata chiaramente la procedura da adottare. Io ho provato a spostare via ftp la directory PRESTASHOP nella root principale, ma in fase di trasferimento mi da continui "errori critici di trasferimento file" e alla fine del trasfert non c'è traccia della directory PRESTASHOP sulla root. Altri hanno suggerito una modifica al file htaccess, ma non trovo l'indicazione sul COME riscriverlo. Ringrazio in anticipo per gli eventuali suggerimenti Effemix -
Buenas, Tras instalar PS 1.6.0.9 y hacer la configuración básica en preferencias, parámetros con el Theme por defecto, me he ido al listado de categorías y no me aparecen las que están en el menú (Women, Dresses, ...). Sí que me aparecen los productos y asociados a esas categorías pero no sé donde están... Creo que están creadas a nivel de Root verdad? pero sin embargo en el listado de Categorías no puedo subir a ese nivel para verlas, borrarlas o modificarlas... Alguna idea? Gracias!! -
Hi i'm using 1.5.4.0 I have added a new product (virtual) for a gift card. However, the product are not showed correct in the store. See attached. Pysslade lite igår, och skulle lägga till en ny kategori. Problemet är att jag råkade göra den till en rotkategori och nu går den inte att ta bort! Vad gör jag??

Im using prestashop 1.6.0.9. i make root category for product Product - category 1 - category 2 - category 3 After view product in category 1 it display well product list with grid view or list view then, after view root product it display sub category - category 1 - category 2 - category 3 but it display product list in grid view and list view at the same time. how to fix that or how to remove product list from the root product? -
Bonjour, J'ai crée une catégorie "coutellerie" et une sous-catégorie"couteau acier/inox". Pour tester j'ai crée un poduit Couteau chef que j'ai affecté à la sous catégorie "couteau acier/inos" depuis store commander. Lorsque je vais sur la BOffice de presta, dans produit, je selectionne "couteau chef" et celui-ci reste dans la catégorie "cuisson et service". Les créations des catégories au niveau du produit ne sont pas répertoriés. Seul la catégorie associé "cuisson et service" est disponible et pas les autres Pourquoi ? merci pour votre retour Voici la réponse du support technique SC : Je peux en effet voir le problème dans le backoffice, même si la catégorie 'Couteau Acier Inox' est bien définie comme la catégorie par défaut du produit (dans PS et SC), je ne vais malheureusement pas pouvoir vous aider à résoudre ce 'bug' d'affichage du backoffice, car cela provient de Prestashop uniquement, interface sur laquelle nous ne travaillons pas. Il faudrait contacter Prestashop directement. Notez tout de même que cette catégorie n'est pas visible sur le front office. Un problème donc avec la configuration du site, qui est surement liée au problème d'affichage dans le backoffice -------- quelqu'un a t-il une idée svp ? merci -
Ciao a tutti! Utilizzo Prestashop 1.6 e ho una serie di sottocategorie della categoria principale Home (ad esempio Scarpe, Gonne, Occhiali etc). Ho neccessità di aggiungere una descrizione alle categorie, già create ed indicizzate. Se io prendo la categoria Scarpe e aggiunto una descrizione la categoria e salvo la categoria diventa da sola una root e non più una sottocategoria. Come posso risolvere questo bug!? Grazie

Hi, I am helping a friend out with is Prestashop. The current version is 1.5.4.1. I have installed Prestashop locally (Mac, MAMP PRO) and I am able to see and access my admin. I used the instructions from Priyash in this forum: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/155893-i-cant-moveinstall-live-running-site-on-the-locahost-pls-help/ The only thing I cannot figure out is that when I type 'localhost' into my browser, it just displays the index of the root? So 'Index of /' then it lists all the files and folders. Is there some kind of redirect that is not working? As I say I can access the admin fine at localhost/admin, but when I visit localhost it just does not show the website, just the root. I have my prestashop installed in the root, no subfolder like /projectName/. I'm positive I have gone through all the steps renaming ps_shop_url etc. It just does not redirect. I am also not seeing any errors, debugging is turned on. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for the help -

I have prestashop 1561 in a subfolder. So I used the other users solution to avoid to show /subfolder/ in the URL : ( http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/18393-solved-move-prestashop-from-subfolder-to-root/) Somehow redirections with "www." doesn´t work right for me as for other users. I rechecked the .htaccess file and seems to be all right. I get this redirections: http://mydomain.com works: redirects to root/subfolder/index.php http://mydomain.com/en works http://www.mydomain.com/ shows 404page: http://mydomain.com/index.php? http://www.mydomain.com/en shows 404page: http://mydomain.com/index.php?controller=404 Everthing looks correct. Haciendo pruebas he eliminado el root Inicio (cuando estas en configuración de barra de menu horizontal, en el apartado de categorias, no me aparece Inicio para añadir al lado derecho) y debido a esto ya no se muestran productos en Productos Destacados ni puedo añadir productos ya que no está la raiz Inicio. Cómo se hace para añadir de nuevo el root Inicio? Por cierto mi versión de PS es la 1.5.6 y tengo la tienda en local. Gracias-

Hi All, Not sure if this is a bug in 1.5.6.1 or a config error, but thought id ask the question anyway. Running multistore - Showing all shops I have two root categories: 1. Root 1 = for Shop A 2. Root 2 = for Shop B When i am in the products page (to add or edit a product) and press "Filter by Category" I only ever see the Root 1 categories. It doesn't matter if I change the shops etc. I tried this same setup in 1.6.0.1 Alpha and it works. any ideas? Thanks -
