  1. I would like to know if google can read/ interpret the categories and subcategories on the homepage of my site. My category and subcategory names actually are the keywords people would search for, but I don't know if search engines interpret the words in the main horizontal menus or the drop downs.
  2. I didn't. I ended up just reentering some products manually. Not fun, but doable since it wasn't that many. If this had happened on a huge section it would have been a big problem! Maybe one of us should post it in the bug tracker.
  3. I tried taking down the ganalytics and google sitemap module (those were both in-house prestashop modules), as well as a 3rd party Prestashop XML Exporter, but I still get the same error message. The error message doesn't show up when the cache is off. I also emptied 'cache' and 'compile' in cache/smarty. I think the only other thing I have uploaded recently is google's code file to verify ownership for either google analytics or merchant/ base. Any idea what might be causing the error?
  4. The error came back after I turned the cache back on and changed the template cache from 'force compilation' to 'recompile templates if the files have been updated.'. Right now products and categories are showing up alright, but that is based on having the cache off and forced compilation. When I turn change those two settings, I get Undefined index: unifunc in /public_html/tools/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatebase.php on line 561 Fatal error: Function name must be a string in /public_html/tools/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatebase.php on line 561 (I did take my login name out of that since it is in there in the error message right before public_html) The error goes away and the page shows when you hit 'refresh.' That doesn't seem right. For now I can just keep the cache off and force compilation, but I suspect that will slow up the site.
  5. I got the error to go away by deleting a third party googlebase import module I had uploaded and installed last week. I think the module came from a forum posting that started in 2011, so maybe the module caused problems for version 1.5.4. I just tried removing the few google oriented modules I had installed recently to see if one of them was causing the problem. Thank you for the help, Milos!
  6. When I get to product level pages, they report this error: (I turned on error reporting and put the site in development mode in the config/defines.inc file) Undefined index: unifunc (/public_html/tools/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatebase.php, line 561) This is what I have in line 561: $_template->properties['unifunc']($_template); I did install the ganalytics module in the last week, which is about when this issue came up. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Should I replace the tools/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatebase file with a new copy from 1.5.4 (version I'm using now)? Any ideas for how to handle this would be very much appreciated!
  7. Today 240 visits and visitors. However, when you look at visitors online now, the listing of guests shows visitors (usually 3) with the the same IP address. So of the 27 people viewing the shop now, there are only about 9 different IP addresses. They are all on product pages, so that doesn't seem suspicious. Visitors origin is almost completely from direct links except for a couple from semalt.com and privhosting.com, and a handful from google. Do all those visitors coming from direct links make sense??? I am getting google analytics hooked up right now to see if more info helps.
  8. Me, too. My site has only been up a week and a half and nearly all visits are from a 'direct link'. Is this probably just traffic from hackers trying to access the site, or what? Anyone have any experience with this? Thank you!
  9. I have a couple of formatting questions: 1) I was looking at Google's instructions for product type. It looks like the ">" between category levels (when describing product type) should be "&gt" when using XML. for <g:product_type>{categories}</g:product_type>. I noticed that right now, Prestacenter XML Exporter uses the "|" symbol as a separator for product type category levels. Should the "|" be changed to "&gt"? Right now, product types show up like this (dependent on your own categorization structure): Coins | Cents | 1909 - 1919 Lincoln Wheat Cents. So I would imagine the "|" should be "&gt" if google is supposed to process it correctly. 2) Also, my products fall into two different google product type', but I don't know how to correlate my own (top tier category) to google's product taxonomy. My main category ifalls into google's second or third level of taxonomy. My category structure is "Coins | Cents | 1909 - 1919 Lincoln Wheat Cents". I would like for the top tier of my categorization to show up as: Arts & Entertainment > Hobbies & Creative Arts > Collectibles > Collectible Coins and Currency. What should I have between the <g:google_product_category> </g:google_product_category> to get the google product category to show up as my main level category? I think this should be possible since prestashop's code seems to differentiate between categories and subcategories. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you!
  10. Does anyone know how to get this module to add a 'availability', 'identifier exists', or 'product type' or 'product category' into the XML? I would also like to know how to add them manually. I have a very large inventory that I haven't been able to download through a CSV, otherwise I would just export the CSV and edit it. Thanks for any help! (using
  11. That did it. I actually swapped out a custom image for the bg_maintenance.png in my theme's image folder. Thank you!
  12. I would like to remove the shopping bag image from the maintenance page. I have looked through my theme's maintenance.tpl file, but I can't identify what to change to remove it. I can tell where my store logo is, but not the shopping bag image. Does anyone know how to remove that image?
  13. Woops! I was editing the number of items per row in modules/homefeatured/homefeatured.tpl, not in themes/default_grid/modules/homefeatured/homefeatured.tpl. I edited the themes version, and it worked. Should have remembered this from other postings I have read. Thank you!
  14. It's strange. I changed the number of items per line as Milos said, but it didn't seem to fix it. I believe I have forced compilation on. I will try doing the 3 products per row alterations and see what happens.
  15. I have it in maintenance mode still. It hasn't gone live. How can I work around this?
  16. There is no spacing between the fourth and fifth products in the home page featured products. I'm using version I am using the default theme, modified to a grid listing of products (wide left column with skinny right column.) Also, I have increased the home_default image size to 140 from 124. I would ideally like to use 3 columns with larger images, maybe 235 pixels each, and have them line up with the right edge of the image slider (wide left column.) I know the total width of the column is 770, but I don't know how to alter the spacing in between the featured products. I altered the image width in the modules/homefeatured/homefeatured.css, so I'm thinking that is where most of the alterations will need to go. Here is the file, in case it sheds some light on things: #featured-products_block_center li { margin-right:10px; padding:20px 0; width:140px; height:240px } #featured-products_block_center li.last_item_of_line {margin-right:0;} #featured-products_block_center .s_title_block, #featured-products_block_center h5 { padding-top:5px; height:30px; font-size:12px; color:#222; padding-bottom: 0; font-weight:bold; } #featured-products_block_center .product_image { display:block; position:relative; overflow:hidden } #featured-products_block_center .product_image span.new { display: block; position: absolute; top: 15px; right:-30px; padding: 1px 4px; width: 101px; font-size:10px; color: #fff; text-align: center; text-transform: uppercase; -moz-transform: rotate(45deg); -webkit-transform: rotate(45deg); -o-transform:rotate(45deg); -ms-transform: rotate(45deg); background-color: #990000; transform: rotate(45deg); /* Newer browsers */ } #featured-products_block_center .product_desc {height:45px;} #featured-products_block_center .product_desc, #featured-products_block_center .product_desc a { color:#666 } #featured-products_block_center .lnk_more { display:inline; padding-right:10px; font-weight:bold; font-size:10px; color:#0088cc; background:url(img/arrow_right_1.png) no-repeat 100% 3px; } #featured-products_block_center .price_container { margin-top:10px; padding:0; } #featured-products_block_center .price { font-weight:bold; font-size:14px; color:#990000 } #featured-products_block_center li .ajax_add_to_cart_button {display:none;} #featured-products_block_center li span.exclusive {display:none;} Any help in the right direction would much appreciated. Thank you.
  17. KhaledSaied, I like what you did, but I can't get it to work. What version of prestashop are you using? I am using 1.5.4. I tried editing the category.tpl in my variation of the default theme. My file looks a little different, and when I added that "{if !(($category->id == '6'))}" line (second line in your code), it created an error/ failure in the site. I would appreciate any help either turning off the 'no products in category' for a main category, or just disabling it altogether. Thank you!
  18. Prices are not updating on the front office, when I change them in the back office. Images, and info can change, but prices don't. The back office lists the price I enter, but it doesn't show up in the front end. This is only happening to some products though. I read in the forums that this kind of thing might have to do with a product.tpl file from certain templates. I am just using the default 1.5.4 theme modified with Nemo's product grid code. I did delete some of the products' subcategory and put them into that subcategory's parent category. I used prestashop's automatic function for this. I don't know if that would have anything to do with the issue, I just thought I would mention it . Not sure if either of those things have anything to do with the $0 price issue, but I am mentioning it just in case it does. Thanks!
  19. I don't believe you can give exactly the same name to subcategories. You might be able to do so if you assign them different numbers, but I'm not sure. The way you create the category-subcategory structure is through a column in your csv spreadsheet: 'parent.' Make a small csv with a handful of your categories and subcategories to see how it goes first. You can look around the forum for examples. If you can't get it to work after looking at other examples and trying to upload a few lines of your own little trial, I can send an example of mine. By the way, if you don't want to assign numbers to your categories, prestashop can automatically do that. (In that case you definitely need to use different names for subcategories).
  20. I have been trying to upload the local development copy of my shop to my remote host, but it looks like the files have been getting corrupted. I have the database imported and set up, the config file is set up, and I altered the shop url, ssl and base uri in the remote database. I got the following message when I uploaded with filezilla: Then I tried uploading again with cyberduck. It doesn't get through a full upload without errors or failure messages. Dowloading with filezilla and cyberduck hasn't been as problematic. I had a file corruption once with the duck the resulted in an error like above. I have read people recommending Total Commander, but I'm not sure if that is something that would help or if something else is going wrong with my upload. Any pointers on this would help. Thanks!
  21. I had/ have a similar situation. I don't have any brilliant ideas or solutions though. You could just use brand as the category, then list the models as products with the memory as an option -priced according to the selected memory choice. I think you can enter different prices for options or attributes. I think it just depends on how you want to represent your inventory. I'm no expert, but based on my experience, it will be a lot of data entry if you're doing stock management/ inventory control and price variations.
  22. I think the following link should help you out: http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Making+the+Native+Modules+Work#MakingtheNativeModulesWork-ContentManagement It is from the 1.5 guide, under 'making the native modules work', 'content management', there is a section about the footer.
  23. I am moving a local copy of my site to my remote server. I got the files moved ok, but I am having trouble importing the database. I get this message: when I try to import the local database. I altered the config/settings.inc.php server, database name, user name, password to the new database I created. Also I created a user and assigned it to the new database with all privileges. Does anyone know why I am getting this message? This version of phpmyadmin is slightly different than the one I am using on my local host. The remote host version looks like it adds a version of my phpmyadmin username at the beginning of each database name. The usernames assigned to each database are the main username plus the name of each database.
