  1. I was just thinking of coming back over to prestashop for my main website, as I'm having the same problem with a different cart solution. Think I might wait a while now...
  2. I think you might find that the new version version for mega drown is available FREE of charge here: http://developpement.cc-web.fr/modules-prestashop/57-menu-mega-drown-evolution.html I too was a little confused at first as I purchased this 15 months ago but it now appears to be free. You have to upgrade your version if you want it to work with 1.4x
  3. I've been with 1&1;hosting for over 5 years and although nothing major has ever happened along the way, I've always been let down when I needed support as it is almost non existent, not much surprise there then! I recently came across a hosting provider based here in the UK, DX3webs and I have to say that even though I've only been with them for 5 months the support has been phenomenal. I now have 2 shops, one on Prestashop and another on Magento and anyone who uses Magento will know that it can be a bit tricky sometimes. The support I have received over past few months in setting up my new online store has been exceptional and my allocated server manager has always been at the end of the phone when I’ve needed him. After being with Go Dadddy and 1&1;for so many years I never realised just how good things could be if I’d been bothered to look around. I just want to congratulate everyone at DX3webs for all their help and support; you are a shining example to every hosting company out there. I would thoroughly recommend these guys if you’re in the UK and are thinking of either setting up an online shop or you’re thinking of changing host providers. Here is the link to their site: www.dx3webs.com
  4. Forgive me but isn't prestashop an 'open source' soloution? Why would anyone 'expect' the same kind of support you get when you purchase commercial ecommerce software to that compared to when you have downloaded open source free software? I'm sure that ll the developers who have devoted their own time to this project understand the needs of the client but they have limited rescources and money to enable them to launch an upgrade without a few hicups and lack of pre-release info for agents. It seems to me that in order for Prestashop to move forwards some big changes in code and stucture have to take place and if this means that I will have to alter my template files for the sake of growing my business then so be it. After having a look around at other alternatives recently and having a nervous breakdown testing Magento, I have come to conclusion that Prestashop still remains the best open souce platform out there.
  5. Greetings, I'm looking to have my top header logo bar span the whole length of the page at the top but I find any info on how to do this. Currently I've uploaded my logo in .PNG format and put a background colour on it but it looks kind of weird. I'd really like to have the brown/grey colour header bar going all the way across the top of the page. Come on someone, throw an old prestashop user a rope here. You will have my eternal gratitude.
  6. I'm wondering if its worth it as I will soon be upgrading again once you have updated AWP module to work on prestashop 1.4
  7. Ok, sorry, forgot about the new year holiday season. Just seen your new templates, very nice.
  8. 2 emails and still no reply....maybe they are not in the business of making custom templates anymore? In fact I've noticed that there hasn't been any new templates up for a while now,
  9. Sorry, no can do. My site is very live and something like this will turn my customers away so I've reverted back to old version. UPDATE: I now know that it must be something to do with the module core files as I've left the new 1.3.6 modified files where they are and just changed the AWP module folder back to the previous version which is quite old. It displays properly now but the old version is a bit slow
  10. Damn, since I upgraded to prestashop version 1.3.6 and upgraded AWP to the latest version my cart box doesn't show any attribute descriptions in the 'block cart instructions' area. it just shows a series of ':' colons. I've copied over the modified files 3 times now just to be sure and even re installed the module twice but I just can't get it to display in the cart box. This is very strange as everything else seems to work, any ideas anyone?
  11. I've been trying to contact you guys about a customized template but your contact module keeps throwing errors at me. How do I contact you?
  12. Tomer, What about adding a 'next step' feature so that if you have quite a few options then the customer won't have to scroll half way down the page to fill in all the options fields. For instance, if you had a t-shirt website then when you click 'add options' the pop up appears with a heading 'Choose a design' and you click the radio button of your choice, then at the bottom of the box it might say 'next step' and once you click that then in the box appears the next set of options for choosing your colours etc, etc.. I think many customers would find this much more attractive, less cluttered and easier to use. Could this be a future feature for version 2? UPDATE: In fact someone's just posted a request for this feature here: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/91977/job_offers_and_paid_services/prestashop_expert_to_write_step_by_step_order_process_with_attributes_dot_ I think you would be very surprised at the demand for this type of feature!
  13. I've come across this scenario before when I upgraded from version 1.2 to 1.3. You need to save your database right more and don't attempt to upgrade anything until this is complete. Do you have access to PHPmyadmin on the host server?
  14. Ok, before you think about doing anything drastic, do you have a backup file of your database? Don't worry, it's not the end of the world if the answer is no.
  15. This works without any problems: # .htaccess automaticaly generated by PrestaShop e-commerce open-source solution # http://www.prestashop.com - http://www.prestashop.com/forums AddType x-mapp-php5 .php # URL rewriting module activation RewriteEngine on # URL rewriting rules RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9]+)\-([a-z0-9]+)(\-[_a-zA-Z0-9-]*)/([_a-zA-Z0-9-]*)\.jpg$ /img/p/$1-$2$3.jpg [L,E] RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)(\-[_a-zA-Z0-9-]*)/([_a-zA-Z0-9-]*)\.jpg$ /img/c/$1$2.jpg [L,E] RewriteRule ^lang-([a-z]{2})/([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)/([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)\.html(.*)$ /product.php?id_product=$3&isolang;=$1$5 [L,E] RewriteRule ^lang-([a-z]{2})/([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)\.html(.*)$ /product.php?id_product=$2&isolang;=$1$4 [L,E] RewriteRule ^lang-([a-z]{2})/([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)(.*)$ /category.php?id_category=$2&isolang;=$1 [QSA,L,E] RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)/([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)\.html(.*)$ /product.php?id_product=$2$4 [L,E] RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)\.html(.*)$ /product.php?id_product=$1$3 [L,E] RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)(.*)$ /category.php?id_category=$1 [QSA,L,E] RewriteRule ^content/([0-9]+)\-([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)(.*)$ /cms.php?id_cms=$1 [QSA,L,E] RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)__([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)(.*)$ /supplier.php?id_supplier=$1$3 [QSA,L,E] RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)_([a-zA-Z0-9-]*)(.*)$ /manufacturer.php?id_manufacturer=$1$3 [QSA,L,E] RewriteRule ^lang-([a-z]{2})/(.*)$ /$2?isolang=$1 [QSA,L,E]
  16. I would start by using firebug plug-in for firefox and use the 'border-bottom:' command on your categories block to get the effect you're looking for. Our I suppose you could simply just directly edit your global css file if you are familiar with css already.
  17. I'm with 1and1 and my htaccess file works with friendly url. Are you on a shared host server?
  18. Ok, so when you say you tried to select the database which task were you trying to do, setup a new shop or import/export database?
  19. To save your database: 1. Log into your Hosting providers back end system and locate the 'mySQL' page to access your database 2. Once on the mySQL page Click 'PHPmyAdmin' next to your current database name. 3. In the PHPmyAdmin area Click on your database name in the left hand column at the top (it should look something like: db1212347637) 4. You should now see a row of tabs at the top of the screen, click the 'Export' tab. 5. Leave all the options displayed as they are as they should be automatically set up in the correct way. 6. At the bottom of the screen where it says 'Save file' ensure that you choose BZIPPED for best compression. 7. Hit 'Save' or 'Go' and save in a safe location on your hard drive. 8. You have now saved your database! To import your database do exactly the same as steps 1 and 2 but instead of clicking on the database name in step 3 just click on the SQL icon which should be located in the left hand column at the very top. This should then open a window which should allow you to choose 'Import' and then upload your saved file. PLEASE NOTE: the instruction above were done using a 1and1 hosting account so the User interface may differ from one hosting provider to another. ALSO REMEMBER: The database structure in prestashop version 1.4 is different to older versions so if you are running an older version of prestashop you will need to go through the upgrade process before saving your database and then trying to import it into the latest version. I have upgraded my prestashop on 1and1 hosting 3 times now without any problems whatsoever but I've read posts from some members who have reported problems after the upgrade. I think that as long as you follow the upgrade process carefully as instructed then you shouldn't experience any problems. Hope this helps.
  20. Hi, I'm having trouble configuring my parameter handling preferences for my Prestashop as I'm not too sure what each parameter does but I do know that set correctly it will rid my site of any duplicate URL's. Does anyone know if these parameters are ok for Google to ignore when crawling my site or should I just leave them: p ml n pr amp;id_lang ;p ;;p ;;;p %3B%3B%3Bp %3Bp %3B%3Bp amp%3Bisolang %3B%3B%3B%3Bp %253B%253B%253Bp %253Bid_lang Regards.
  21. Bad idea. You will end up sharing all your product and CMS meta data which will in turn get you severely penalised by every search engine and your site will never even get off the ground as won't even get indexed. If I were you I would seriously rethink my strategy.
  22. Hi, Just wanted everyone to know that my 404 errors and my duplicate meta tags in Google Webmaster are starting to reduce very quickly in the last few days after installing the duplicate URL module from Tomerg. This has been an absolute headache for me over the past couple of months so I would like to thank Tomerg for all his hard work in getting this module to the stage it's at and for finally solving the 404 error problem that a lot of us on version 1.3.2 have been experiencing. Regards.
