  1. In the carrier page (Shipping -> Carrier) you can assign tax to a carrier, or leave it without tax.

I've done this in my shop, and when someone adds something to a basket as a guest, the quote for shipping has tax added on. Unfortunately, when they register and set up an address, or log in with an address already set up, the shipping no longer includes the tax! It's driving me nuts trying to figure it out :(

UPDATE: I figured out my problem... I hadn't selected the different zones under the "tax" tab in the payments section...
  2. I am using version 1.3.7 of Prestashop.
"total shipping tax included is = 7 " That is correct . No wonder in order to get a value of $7.00 in shipping I had to put a value of 2 in handling charges, which is odd. This was done Yesterday. Previously the value was , as normal 7.00
"total shipping tax excluded gives a completely wrong value.

Sorry, but your description does not really make sense. Would you be able to clarify exactly what the problem is that you're facing?
  3. Hello everyone,

I have been having some problem with Prestashop and tax on postage, and was hoping that someone could help me. I am in Australia, so have set different zones up for each state, so that I can charge different posotage rates for each state, and I need to ensure that tax (GST) is charged on postage as well. I have also ensured that the carrier has the correct tax scheme selected.

Now, when someone goes shopping without logging in, and adds some products to their cart, Prestashop correctly adds tax on to the postage charges. However, once the customer has logged in and has input their address, Prestashop no longer adds tax!

How do I fix this? This is obviously a problem because it affects my ability to issue proper tax invoices and to correctly collect GST on the postage charges.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

  4. OK, so I've found the setting to indicate that a carrier should incur tax, but I'm still having problems. Even though I have "GST" selected for Australia Post, when I put the carrier prices in (excluding tax, as the page specifically tells me that "Prices are tax excluded"), they are used as inclusive of tax on the front end. That means that even though I have selected "GST" for my carrier, GST is not added on to the shipping charges, nor is it included in the shipping charges on the invoice! Any suggestions?

  5. @ Sylvester (or anyone else who can help!) - how did you fix the tax problem with the postage? I too am having difficulties, because I need to charge GST on my postage costs, but Prestashop only seems to have postage excluding tax! This is obviously a problem when it comes to issuing invoices, because the tax information is incorrect, and when it comes to tax time, it will be a real pain to try and sort out what's what :(

  6. Hello! Sorry, but I don't have an answer (hopefully you've figured it out now) but I do have a problem with John Doe showing up. Like you, I deleted that profile early in the piece, but I cannot figure out how to remove it from the stats. It still shows up in registrations, registered customer info, best customers etc... Does anyone know how to remove these entries from the stats?

  7. Hello everybody,

The other day, I had a spike in the traffic to my web site (around 300 visitors in one hour), and during that time I kept receiving an "error 400 bad request" when I tried to do things in the back office. It did not occur every time, but often, when I clicked a tab (e.g., orders or customers), I would receive the error. I also checked the front pages of the site to see if the error was occurring there, and although it did not happen as often, it did occur once when I attempted to log out as a customer.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? Does Prestashop (I am running 1.3.7) have trouble dealing with a spike in traffic like that, or is it more likely to be a problem with the hosting server?

I would be enormously grateful for any help :)

  8. Hi Jason,

I haven't got an Australia Post module, but the cost of posting parcels seems to be the same no matter where you are posting stuff (so long as you stay in Australia). On my site, I have just set up weight ranges, and set the costs based on Australia Post's prices and the cost of packaging. Australia Post have a great little calculator on their website that will let you figure our how much costs are.

If you're shipping overseas as well, it won't be quite so easy, but if you're only shipping to a limited number of countries it might still be worthwhile just putting weight ranges and prices in manually depending on zones, and updating them if and when Australia Post changes their prices.

  9. Thanks for the nice comments.

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the pricing? I know if you're not in Australia the prices don't mean too much, but what do Australians think? I have tried to keep the prices as low as possible, but postage in particular is a problem. I do not make any money on it and, in fact, sometimes lose money, depending on whether or not the weight of the box tips the postage cost over the edge. I am just wondering if the cost of postage might be turning some customers off. Having said that, I have seen other Australian websites that charge more than me, so I just don't know. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Best wishes from Brisbane!

  10. Hi all,

I am actually interested in trying to figure out what colour is currently being used for the subheading. I.e., my theme uses an odd shade of yellow for the subheading, and I need to know exactly what the colour code is so that I can use it elsewhere on my site. Can anyone tell me where to find this information? I've looked through a number of css, php, and tpl files, but cannot find it...

  11. Thanks Zenith,

After a couple of weeks of trawling the forums I've finally found a few solutions. Most of them have been posted by johnstcks, and involve editing the files you've mentioned, as well as admin\tabs\AdminAddresses.php and AdminOrders.php, themes\Prestashop\address.tpl addresses.tpl authentication.tpl order-address.tpl order-detail.tpl and shopping-cart.tpl

With your suggestions and the answers I've found from johnstcks, I should be able to figure it out. It's just such a pain editing the PHP code! All it takes is missing one character and the whole thing fails :(

  12. Can someone please help with the address issue? I know that the suggestion above is to change fields around on the input pages, but the method seems rather clunky, and I am unsure how many template files I need to edit. Also, my problem is not only with the layout of fields on the input pages, but in the way the address is actually reproduced once it has been input, both on web pages in the site and on delivery dockets and invoices. I am sure that this problem affects other people - it would be fantastic if I could get this problem sorted out.

  13. Hi all,

I've figured out how to amend page titles (I just edited the header.tpl file directly), but I still cannot get Prestashop to format addresses correctly. This is not the end of the world, as I can still accept and process orders, but certainly does not look professional sending out an invoice with the address all hooey! If someone can please please please help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance :)
