  1. My hosting fixed the issue by putting the following code in my: .../public_html/admin.../.htaccess <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteRule .* - [E=noabort:1,E=noconntimeout:1] </IfModule> Which I see is suggested by LiteSpeed at: https://www.litespeedtech.com/support/wiki/doku.php/litespeed_wiki:php:run-without-timeouts and: https://docs.litespeedtech.com/cp/cpanel/long-run-script/ But just to be on the safe side I'm going to do one of the cPanel backups in addition to the PrestaShop one each time.
  2. I've had problems on different hosts with the Back Office DB backup timing out and leaving incomplete backup files. Different backup methods take very different times, and even produce file sizes, on the same site:- * Back Office backup takes over 6 minutes (without download) and produces a sql.bz2 file which decompresses to 1.1GiB * cPanel > Backup > MySQL takes abt 10 secs to download a sql.gz file which decompresses to 892MB * phpMyAdmin > Export takes 2 min 20 secs to create and download a sql file of 1.1GiB Why is the Back Office backup so much slower? Why is the cPanel backup so fast and producing a smaller sql file? Are they all equally good for restoring the database? (I've never installed or restored one myself - I would get someone more experienced to do that, but I want to know I've got a good backup to give them).
  3. Most posts say to update meta tags for the home page via Shop Param > Traffic + SEO > SEO > index, but when I update the Meta Title there, clear PS cache, clear browser cache, I can't see the change? Also I see that Categories > Home > Edit has Meta description and Meta keywords (but not Meta title). What is the difference between these tags on the Home Category and the Index Page? Please enlighten me
  4. For FastMail I had to use SSL on port 565. I normally use TLS or STARTTLS on port 587 from email clients, and I believe port 465 should work too, but no combination of these would work from PrestaShop. It didn't make any difference for me, if the Customer Service email address (Shop Param > Contact) is the same as the site domain or different. It didn't make any difference if the 'Mail domain name' (Adv Param > Email) is the same as the site domain or different. Hope this helps someone.
  5. I hope a managed server will save me from much security work and worry. Currently I'm on 1&1 Managed Cloud Hosting (2GB RAM, 2 vCores, 76GB free on SSD) but it is so slow that several back office functions are not completing, and giving a Gateway Timeout after 30 seconds eg: Adv Param > Information - never appears; or clearing the cache; or backing-up the database. If I 'upgrade' to 4 vCores and 8GB RAM it is just as bad! It is slower than the shared hosting I was on before! 1&1 seem unable or unwilling to look at this. How can I find a managed server that will give enough Apache/PHP/MySQL configuration options, and actual processing power, to give reasonably good performance? I have PS v1.7.5.1 with mod_security disabled, and Smarty Cache enabled. Activity My shop is only partly developed - it has prices but does not take payments yet. Products: 2000 (will eventually be over 6000) Traffic is low PHP version: 7.1 with all modules required by: https://devdocs.prestashop.com/1.7/basics/installation/system-requirements/ MySQL version: 5.7.27
  6. @Simonas - thanks. I was looking at the free PrestaShop Google Analytics Module (https://www.sunnytoo.com/30670/setup-google-analytics-in-prestashop) but I notice it is only compatible up to 1.6. I'll have to compare all the other GA modules to see if any do it.
  7. What is the simplest way to get a clear idea of our traffic profile on different days ie: the number of visitors in different hours through the day eg: the average for weekdays and average for weekend days; or just for each day: average for Mondays, average for Tuesdays, etc. I want to know which are times with lowest traffic, and which times have the highest traffic. Can't see any easy way to get this from the built-in stats. Is there a PS module good for this?
