FAQ - Google Merchant Center
What is Google Merchant Center?
Google Merchant Center helps you sync your store and product information with Google, so your products can appear across Google via free listings and Shopping ads. You can add your products to Google, manage how your inventory appears, promote your products to reach more customers, and track results and insights.

How do I connect my store to Google Merchant Center?
Note: If you have just created your PrestaShop store, the extension will be automatically pre-installed on your back office and you can access directly from your Modules catalog. Installation is simple, you can start in 5 easy steps:
-Click on "Download" to get the ZIP file.
-Go back to your back office and navigate to the "Module Manager" located on the left sidebar menu, select "Module & Services".
-Click on the "Upload a module" button located at the top right, select the ZIP file to upload, and click OK.
-Your module is installed and will appear on your installed modules list, to begin the setup, click on "Configure".
-If you have multiple boutiques, you will need to configure each boutique separately, please select your boutique directly from the list once you start the onboarding.
*In order to complete the configuration, you will be asked to associate your Google accounts (Google Merchant Center and Google Ads)
Where will my products appear?
By default, once you have finalized the configuration of your product feed settings and you click on Export, the free product listings are activated.
Depending on where you’re selling, your free listings of eligible products may appear in search results across various Google surfaces, like Google Search, Google Images, and the Shopping tab. Learn more about availability by country and device here.
If you’re running a Smart Shopping campaign, your approved products can appear on Google Search, Shopping, Gmail, YouTube, and the Google Display Network.

Your product feed is a list of products that you want to advertise across Google. PrestaShop automatically creates and regularly updates your product feed from your store.

What are free listings?
Free listings drive traffic by showcasing your products to shoppers who are actively looking for what you sell. Your eligible products will appear on the Shopping tab, and can also appear on Google Search, Google Images, and Gmail depending on your location. The free listing is activated by default once you have exported your catalog. If you wish to deactivate the free listings, you can do it from the Configure tab.

What are Smart Shopping campaigns?
Smart Shopping campaigns help you reach even more customers and grow your business by promoting your products in Google Ads across Google Search, Shopping, YouTube, Gmail, and the Google Display Network.
Once you launch your Smart Shopping campaign, Google’s smart technology will optimize your ads so they appear at the right time and place to boost store traffic and sales. You can edit or pause your campaign at any time, but we recommend you allow at least 15 days for your campaign to optimize before making any changes.

How much do Smart Shopping campaigns cost to run?
Smart Shopping campaigns are pay-per-click, meaning you only pay when someone clicks on your ads. You can customize your daily budget in PrestaShop Marketing with Google and can change this budget at any time.
Can I run both free listings and Smart Shopping campaigns at the same time?
Yes, and we recommend it. In the US, advertisers running free listings and ads together on the Shopping tab have seen an average increase of over 50% in clicks and over 100% in impressions, with small- to-medium sized businesses seeing the largest share of increases.*
Your store is automatically opted into free listings, and you can choose to run a paid Smart Shopping campaign.
