Mohamadou is our Ambassador in Dakar, Senegal, and recently got himself talked about on Socialnetlink, a local web platform, thanks to his actions to develop PrestaShop in his country. In order to thank him for his dedication and involvement, we chose him to be our Ambassador of the month of September. We have asked him a few questions, discover his answers below.
Three words to best describe you:
Persistent, curious and autodidact.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
“How to become a rock developer”, because I love programming.
What is your hidden talent?
I do music because I love singing! I like to write songs
Your favorite line from a movie?
“Wear it. Burn it. Whatever you want. You have Castle Black. My watch is ended." John Snow, Game of Thrones.
If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go and why?
Oh, I would go to the Silicon Valley! Because it is the dream of a lot of entrepreneurs and especially of every developer.
About your country
What is your favourite local dish ?
I love kandja soup!
What is your favorite PrestaShop store?
I like Novadakar very much, especially because it comes from Senegal: http://novadakar.com/
What opportunities does PrestaShop provide in your country?
With the increase in the number of e-commerce sites in Senegal, PrestaShop allows merchants to deploy their online store quickly and efficiently. Also with the PrestaShop meetups that we organize regularly, many developers are starting to take an interest in the PrestaShop solution.
What is your feedback on the new major version, PrestaShop 1.7?
The PrestaShop team was really right to upgrade to version 1.7. This version is easier in terms of integration. The classic theme offers the ability to quickly extend and customize themes under PrestaShop. Moreover, they rely on a part of the core on the Symfony framework, which will ensure more robust, more efficient and above all more stable applications.
However there is still much to add and minor bugs to correct. The recent introduction of Vue.js in PrestaShop will allow to develop more interactive and user friendly interfaces in the future.
About being an Ambassador
What is your proudest moment as a PrestaShop Ambassador?
This is when I organized my first PrestaShop meetup in Dakar. Wow, I was amazed by the number of people who came that day! Besides, the fact of being a PrestaShop Ambassador makes me proud. It is an honor for me to be able to bring together the Senegalese community of PrestaShop.
What do you like the most about being an Ambassador?
This is to be able to help those who have problems in the use of PrestaShop. I like to share with the community the best practices and tips on e-commerce. I am also glad that PrestaShop sent me the mascot "Preston", it is so cute!
A last word?
Thank you PrestaShop for giving me the opportunity to express myself on such an important subject as e-commerce. To all the other Ambassadors: keep going! And also a big thanks to all the PrestaShop community. “Wecommerce is better ecommerce”!
Thank you so much!
