With the ongoing growth of our Ambassador community, we are delighted to announce a new category of post named "Ambassador of the month" to show our appreciation to our Ambassadors. This post is the first of a long series of posts about them for you to get to know them better. Each month, we’ll interview one of them. After organizing a student workshop and a community meetup in Kathmandu in September, Sagar – our Ambassador in Nepal – has been chosen to be the first Ambassador of the Month. We’ve asked him to answer a few questions.
Three words to best describe you:
Techno-geek, hardworking, and team-player.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
Life of a Geek :D
What is your hidden talent?
I’m an excellent swimmer and I love writing.
A favorite line from a movie?
It’s from my favorite movie “October Sky”.
Homer (Jake Gyllenhaal) to his dad John (Chris Cooper): “I may not be the best, but I come to believe that I got it in me to be somebody in this world. And it's not because I'm so different from you either. It's because I'm the same. I mean, I can be just as hard-headed, and just as tough. I only hope I can be as good a man as you. Sure, Werner von Braun is a great scientist but he isn't my hero.”
If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go and why?
In that case, I would like to escape out from the earth and spend a week or more in space. You will probably see my video featured in www.spaceadventures.com where I’ll be taking a selfie in Preston’s outfit. :D
The reason is simple. I believe that we, living beings, are sharing a common home called earth. Why not going beyond and exploring our surroundings? ☺
About your country
What is your favorite local food or drink?
MoMo with Coca-Cola Combo. MoMo is a type of steamed dumpling filled with meat or vegetables and is one of the most popular fast food in Nepal.

Give us a fun fact about your country:
Nepal is the home of a living goddess we call “Kumari”.
Kathmandu valley alone has 7 World Heritage Sites. You may not need to visit any cultural museum being here, the whole Kathmandu valley is one. ☺
Another fun fact: slaughtering cow is prohibited in my country as over 80% of Nepal’s population is of Hindu religion and worships cow as god. So, you won’t get any beef items here!
What opportunities does PrestaShop provide in your country?
The PrestaShop community is currently being established in Nepal. We are doing our best to grow a strong PrestaShop community and create opportunities for designers, developers as well as merchants.
The open-source philosophy of PrestaShop allows to get engaged with a community and meetups allow to network with like-minded peoples and solve related issues for those who want to get into Ecommerce.
What is your feedback on the new major version, PrestaShop 1.7?
PrestaShop 1.7 is light, cool and simple with an elegant Startup theme including bootstrap 4 framework along with a user-friendly back-office interface.
Regarding the new back-office: take a tour part, quick access, and redesigned interface are what I found awesome compared to the previous one. Interface changes are more user-friendly and easy-to-use. Adding and managing product section is also better than the previous versions.
The product display in front-office and the category section are more pleasing than prior. Changes in the main navigation menu are remarkable. This will surely help novice users to use Prestashop easily and merchants to sell faster.
Lastly, introducing Symfony framework in 1.7 is a real incentive for developers to code better, to maintain coding standards and to easily develop new modules.
About being an Ambassador
What is your proudest moment as a PrestaShop Ambassador?
Forming Nepal’s PrestaShop community, organizing workshops, meetups and finally being recognized as the first “Ambassador of The Month” is the proudest moment for me. Also, after being introduced as a PrestaShop ambassador, I was recently invited by a renowned businessman in town to discuss on future possibilities. He also offered me to join his team. ☺
What do you like the most about being an Ambassador?
It provides me with the opportunity to showcase my skills and expertise to the community, meet like-minded people, expand my network and contribute somehow to the tech ecosystem of my country.
I recently joined Crowdin and started to contribute in translating PrestaShop in Nepali language as well.
Lastly, I like attending webinars with the awesome PrestaShop Team and getting exclusive information about the upcoming releases.
A last word?
Try it! PrestaShop is a great option for all of those who want to get into Ecommerce.
Whether you are a designer, a developer, a merchant, a web agency, a teacher, a student, or a future entrepreneur, I recommend that you try this awesome tool once. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you very much Sagar!
