Martin is our PrestaShop Ambassador in Brussels, Belgium, and he is the lucky Ambassador of the month! Congratulations to him! Here is his answers to our famous PrestaShop Ambassador questionnary!Â
About you
Three words to best describe you:
Attentive , entrepreneurial, passionate.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
My Name is Rits, Martin Rits.
What is your hidden talent?
I am good at playing football :)
A favorite line from a movie?
"I’ll be back".
If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go and why?
Dubai. I have not been there yet, a friend told me it is really cool over there. With cool I mean, trendy and fun ;)
What issue/topic keeps you awake at night?
I sleep quite well actually, for an entrepreneur that is very rare, I know.
About your country
What is your favorite local food or drink?
In Belgium, it is Mussels and French Fries of course!
Give us a fun fact about your country:
Belgium is number one on the FIFA ranking, although France won the World Cup…
What do you like the most about your country?
It is very international, especially the city of Brussels and as political capital of Europe, you can see Presidents, Ministers, Chancellors, Kings and Queens visiting, on a weekly basis almost.
What is especially worth seeing in your country?
Bruges is great. Every time I go there, I hear even more languages than in Brussels. It is a very romantic and beautiful city.
About PrestaShop
What is your favorite PrestaShop store?
I think they did a great job… both on the design and the overall quality of the site!
What is your feedback on the new major version, PrestaShop 1.7?
I like the improvements that were made to create and maintain a theme. This is especially interesting for starters and I tend to have quite a lot of them in my Meetups.
How do you stay updated on PrestaShop’s newest updates?
I read the blogs and the articles on the website. Also via the Ambassadors, we have communication tools like Slack and some PrestaShop users sometimes have quite good knowledge about the latest updates as well.
About being an Ambassador
What were your motivations to become an Ambassador?
I like to help people. IT can sometimes be a complex issue, because there are so many details you need to know about. Some people, who do not have an IT background, can get frustrated about it easily and I want to avoid that. If you can get the right help from an expert from time to time, it can make a big difference.
What is your proudest moment as a PrestaShop Ambassador?
I have several proudest moments … actually this happens when people send me personal comments after organizing a Meetup. It is nice to receive the recognition, because in the end we do this as volunteers.
What do you like the most about being an Ambassador?
Being able to help people. Some people that are coming to the Meetups have been looking for help for quite some time already and then if they are able to get the problem solved by coming to the Meetup, that is very satisfying for me as well.
A last word?
Making a webshop has never been easier. A person without an IT background can start already a basic site and save a lot of costs like that. But you need to try to form an ecosystem of people who are experimenting with the same and like that, augment your knowledge and skill. Coming to the PrestaShop Meetups is excellent for that. On many occasions we see friendships being formed , people exchanging their contact info, which is a great thing!
Conclusion
Thank you Martin for his work as an awesome Ambassador and for answering our questions. See you next month :)Â
