Could you please add instruction for us that is not into development. Simply showing a code does not help us so much here. Thank you in advanced for sharing your code though :-)- 15 replies

I edited the following file: /public_html/modules/socialsharing/socialsharing.php with your code but the "Add to compare" is still not showing up.

I did not have good luck with my upgrade 1.6.0.9 to 1.6.1.1, for me the horizontal menu broke and some customization i had in there (the custom work i will tlak to my dev about). I am using standard Presta theme so i am surprised it broke, glad i did it on my dev site not the "live". Anyway, have a look at my post here: https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/451522-categories-not-showing-in-top-menu-after-upgrade-1609-to-1611-using-1-click-upgrade/?do=findComment&comment=2134293

I thought to upgrade my dev site from 1.6.0.9 to 1.6.1.1 and the whole horizontal menu is broken. Well it appear as a "text" version. I thought the 1-click was supposed to be safe. I am very glad this is done on the dev-site and not the "live" site. Have a look here how the top page look like: http://screencast.com/t/Bd8TuUnhAe Cheers Frank

Solved - Blocklayered navigation not working with cache active
frank_jarle replied to Casper_O's topic in Core developers
Is this issue the same as when SMARTY-cache is turned on? I am having strange issue when i turn on SMARTY-cache that on the main page that [New Arrivals] tab hides the products. If i disable SMARTY-cache then it works. So my question @gonebdg: will your "fix" benefit my issue as well? Frank -
Thanks for the answer Denver Prophit Jr., but i think you misunderstand my question. My shop has been in "Catalog" mode for the past one year already. My question is: I wonder is there any themes out there that changes prestashop not to have a typically shop/shopping cart look? Anyway, thanks for taking time to answer, but its not what i am looking for. I am looking for Theme that change the typical shop look and simply turning on the catalog mode does not do that ;-) Frank

I have a website that runs entirely on prestashop, it has awesome features for what i need it to be. But i am not selling any products. Of course 99% of all themes have a typically "shopping look". I wonder is there any themes out there that changes prestashop not to have a typically shop/shopping cart look? My website is not open to public yet, but i can say that it list hundreds of products and its meant to compare them in a easy manner. Suggestion of themes or is best route custom paid theme?

Prestashop Performance Tips (Compilation)
frank_jarle replied to moy2010's topic in Configuring and using PrestaShop
I think you could at one more thing to your list, that will improve the performance significant. Moving the entire webshop from Apache over to LiteSpeed. I ran my site on Apache with different cache systems installed, including the different cache-options in PS. But it was never nearly as responsive as it is now with LiteSpeed. Many webhosting providers give options to have it hosted on a LiteSpeed, but i think many customers is worried about problem with this, they dont know what it is or not enough proven data. Unfortunately i do not have any data from before and after as i did the transfer, but from "with naked eyes", i did noticed clearly improvement. An example of that would be when click on a link the Apache server would "think think" before something happening. While on LiteSpeed it just sent me to the next page instantanously. My webhoster provide LiteSpeed for free, so i never regret my transition. ref: http://blog.litespeedtech.com/2013/11/12/new-benchmarks-litespeed-vs-apache-vs-nginx-for-static-content/- 31 replies

Cataloge mode only- How to optimize it for SEO?
frank_jarle replied to frank_jarle's topic in Online sales and SEO
Thanks for these excelent tips. Just a question (because i dont know better). I see in the Presta market there is modules specialicing in SEO that cost from tenths of $ to hundreds of $. Is there a significant difference doing your way, versus buys some expensinve SEO module? I dont mind free where its possible, but at same time, if there is some paid module that promise a lot, but give me very little then i am not interested to pay for such a module. Also, how do one actually messure the success of a paid SEO-module? -
Unfortunately i am unfamiliar with that theme, in that case i suggest you contact the developer or the store you bought it from and get them to help you. It might be other settings for that theme compared to this, maybe a custom module or something that you need to configure. Sorry i could not solve this one for you pal.

It seems to me that you only have commenting available, can you make sure that you actually have any "Review Criterions" in your list. If there is no review Criterions to vote for there would be no stars available i think. First of all, i am using standard template (just in case this is related to the actual theme you are using) 1) In the back office navigate to: Modules->Modules 2) In the search field enter: comment, you should now see the "Product Comments"-module 3) Press the configure button next to it. 4) Scroll down to the bottom you should see the "Review Criterions" section, make sure you have some available here as shown in the picture below: When you or someone else has written a review, its important that you "approve" those comments as well. This is done on the same page as where you are now, scroll further up and you should see comments that might wait for approval: If you do not have any review criterions, then you must make one or more. So on my site this is how it appears on the product catalog/front page: Be aware of one thing (i am not sure if they have fixed this just yet). IF you have multiple Review Criterion just like what i have in the pictures above. You will see that even each user vote for example 3 stars, 2 stars and 5 stars, the final stars that shows up will only show average. In some voting systems it will show what each user actually voted. This "bug" only happens on the product page, but if a given product is added to "Compare list" it will show all the stars. Its just a silly "bug" in my opinion. Please let me know if this helped you or if you require more help :-)

I can help you, but could you make a screenshot of what you mean so we dont cross-talk each other? I think I know what you mean, but I just want to be sure I can make a quick guide for you. I run my site in Cataloge mode only as i am not selling products at all. However it does not mean i am not interested in optimize the site and each products for google search etc. I am looking for tips for guides, modules or what i should do to improve the visibility of the site on internet.
