I know this thread was from a while ago, but I am experiencing the exact same symptoms and cannot figure it out! The image 'uploads successfully' but the thumbnail is of a broken image. When I go into the files, I find that there is no folder/directory that the image is supposed to be called from. I would love any help! Thanks, Michelle

Also, my problem seems to be different from all of the 'Undefined' image issues that people have had previously. I've read tons of those threads but nothing seems to work, and my error is not 'Undefined'. The image loads as a broken link image, since it seems to be reaching for a file that doesn't exist.. Again, I would be so grateful for any help at all!! Thanks in advance!

If anyone could help me with this, that would be so awesome: I migrated my site to make it live today, and in the process I deleted the .htaccess file without backing it up (I know--idiotic move on my part!). Now, even if I regenerate it in the backoffice by toggling the Friendly URL option, it still remains blank. I am very new to all of this, but based on the threads I've been reading, .htaccess seems pretty darn important... and I'm thinking it may be the reason why I can't upload any more images. When I tried to upload a new image for a product, it shows up as a broken link image, and the console says its a 404 error and the image couldn't be found. When I went into the img folder, I realized that the images were not even generating, thus the error.. I'm afraid to regenerate thumbnails in case I lose all my existing images on the front end.. I know it's not the size of the image that's the problem, because it is the exact same size and quality as as all my previously uploaded images. Any help would be so appreciated!
