MODULE Block new products Limit Left column

I have the same question. 12 new products fit my homepage nice, but too much for left column block. Would also be nice when the new products are displayed at random. -
I have the same problem upgrading from 1.5.6.1 to 1.5.6.2 with 1-click upgrade. Checklist is all green, but no upgrade button. Version check is OK, no errors.
