To install your shop on a subdomain do you run Install from the mapped www.yourdomain.com/prestashop/ folder or from actual subdomain URL www.prestashop.yourdomain.com ?

The answer is yes. If you want PrestaShop on a subdomain you must run install from there and not the mapped folder.
