Hello,
This is probably a stupid question... I am trying to use the Newsletter module to create a .csv of our mailing list. I've also noticed this in the customer list (customer tab), but what is the difference between "Newsletter Subscribers" and "Opted-In"?
How are these two status differentiated, and in particular, what are the uses for those that "Opted-In"?
Thanks!

I missed this question. The "Newsletter Subscribers" are the customers who have ticked "Sign up for our newsletter" when they signed up, on their "My personal info" page, or entered their email in the newsletter block. The "Opted-In" subscribers are the ones who ticked "Receive special offers from our partners" when they signed up or on their "My personal info" page.

Thanks for the reply!
So I'm guessing those who don't sign up for an account, but sign up for the newsletter through the newsletter block will be included in the "Newsletter Subscribers" group?
Is it just me, or does these two options seem a little bit redundant? I mean what if we have 1 type of "newsletter" which includes special offers couldn't we just use the "Newsletter Subscribers" as our mailing list (or from both groups to cover everybody)?
I just don't see a big difference in how these two groups can be used independent to each other.
Thanks!

That's right. Guests who sign up for your newsletter, but don't create an account will be included as newsletter subscribers.
I think the difference is that the newsletter is from you, whereas the partner emails are from third parties you've given their email address to.
