PrestaShop.com forum's rules
The following rules must be followed at all times
These rules apply to everyone!
These rules are not meant to be restrictive; they enable a more enjoyable experience in the forum for all, allow you to find the information you need more easily and also let you get help from the community in a timely manner.
The following rules apply to the English Forum section.
The failure to respect these rules on multiple occasions could lead you to be banned from the forum.
=> It is therefore highly recommended to read "Advice for better use of the forums" below.
Respect for others is paramount!
First and foremost, show respect to your fellow posters. The PrestaShop forum is a community for your fellow designers, developers and store owners, so please treat them with the same level of respect you would like from them. If you are unable to remain civil and treat PrestaShop members with respect, you will risk being banned from the forum.
Take the time to help yourself first before asking for help
The PrestaShop forum is here to help you: that is a fact.
However the people who are online are not at your service, but instead are there to do you a favor!
So, before rushing to press the "New topic" button, please be sure to:
– run a search for your issue (when this is not done, it is very obvious),
– consult all the "pinned" topics ("pinned" to the top of the different forums),
– post in the right forum (language, theme),
– add specific detail about your question, such as version number and theme.
See the "Advice for better use of the forums" underneath for more information and advice.
Respect the forum language
PrestaShop brings together communities from around the world; the forums are divided into different languages.
Thank you for posting in the corresponding language to that forum.
In case of an error, we appreciate your recommendation to move the topic of concern (see section "Report a post" in the part "Advice for better use of the forums" below).
In the case of multiple offenses, the topics/posts will be deleted immediately.
Respect the subject of the forum
There is a description under each forum’s name. Furthermore, some forums include a more detailed description of specific rules for that forum in a sticky post.
If you are new to the forum, please take the time to study the sections available to determine which one is the best suited to your question. This will be beneficial for everyone.
It will be useful for you because you will have a better chance that your question will be read by a person who has the right knowledge, and therefore you will be more likely to obtain the appropriate assistance.
Additionally, it will help other users who may encounter the same problem and will start their search in this specific section.
Out of respect for the original poster of the topic, please do not talk about another subject in this topic.
Avoid expressions like "I am taking this opportunity to ask…" which can easily lead to digressions.
Posts outside the scope of the topic will be deleted.
Do not pollute the permanent topics (stickies) with demands for help or questions. They are there to provide the PrestaShop community with useful information. To ask for help, research an existing topic and post afterwards or create a new topic.
The demands for help posted in these topics will be deleted.
Topics with a unique subject
Some posters may have a tendency to create a single topic and to list in it all of their questions rather than flooding the forum with posts. However, unless your questions are very closely related, it is necessary to create one topic per question, and to post them in the appropriate sections (installation, use, etc.).
This will give you a greater chance of getting them all answered.
The posts containing heterogeneous demands may be deleted by the moderators.
Welcome to the PrestaShop Forum! We hope you'll share your comments and suggestions with us. We ask that you please post in English to the main sections of the PrestaShop Forum. If you want to write in another language, please post in the corresponding PrestaShop Community section below.
Please note that PrestaShop Community sections are largely self-moderated. PrestaShop team members may or may not participate in non-English sections. To improve the chances of receiving feedback to your question or comment, please post it in English to the main sections of our Forum.

Writing posts (spelling, grammar, etc.)
It is painful to read posts full of spelling mistakes, and in some case missing complete words.
When we see that even topic titles are full of spelling mistakes, we wonder if the person really cares enough to get help.
Please respect your readers. Take care of spelling and grammer and take the time to read your post again and if needed, edit and correct your post...
On the Internet, the use of caps lock means yelling. This is painful to read. Please use the caps lock with moderation, especially in the topic titles, and please do not write everything in capitals.
The moderators may ask the author to correct his post. If the author does not change it, the post will be deleted.
Give your topics concise but well explained titles!
Topics titles must be a short description of the message and not "URGENT", "Help me", etc.
This will help you receive assistance more easily, because some people who might be able to help you will not even take the time to open these topics. Additionally, the content of the topic will be more easily found while doing a search.
Topics with title of this type or containing this type of mentions ("Urgent", "Help", etc.) will be deleted.
Appropriate content required
Posting text, images and documents deemed to be potentially offensive (insulting, shocking, etc.) is prohibited. This is the same for any web sites corresponding to the hyperlinks posted. Should your content be potentially inappropriate (e.g. intended for an 18+ audience), please show respect and give a disclaimer any time you post your link.
Harassment or out of place remarks by PM (Private Message) are forbidden. People who are victims of these activities should report it to the PrestaShop team.
The assessment of the level of decency is left to your good sense and to the judgment of the moderators.
If you post offensive or inappropriate content, you will be banned.
[SOLVED] Topic
If, after posting a topic, you find a solution to your problem, please indicate it in your post and describe the solution.
There is nothing more frustrating for users with the same issue who come across your post "all is good, I fixed it..." without an explanation of how to fix it.
Furthermore if you are the author of the topic for which a solution has been found, please edit your topic title to mark it as [SOLVED].
To mark a topic as [Solved] :
- Edit the first post of your topic by clicking on the "Edit" button,
- Click on the "Use full editor" button,
- Add the "[Solved]" string at the beginning of your topic title and click on the "Submit Modified Post" button.
Posters who do not abide by this (at the demand of the moderators or other users) will have their new topics closed until the problem has been resolved.
Report a bug / Suggest a functionality
The Bug Tracker is the only place that your bug reports will be taken under considerations. They must be written in English.
Any bugs posted in the forum, sent by e-mail or not written in English have great chance of being ignored or even deleted.
The Feature Request is the only place consulted for suggestions for the addition of new features into the PrestaShop solution. The suggestions must be in English.
Any suggestions posted in the forum, sent by e-mail or not written in English have great chance of being ignored or deleted.
You must make a distinction between a bug and a feature (functionality). A bug can be defined "does not work as it should" and not "does not work as I would want", because in the latter case it becomes a demand for a new functionality or a modification of a functionality, which must be done in the Feature Request.
All demands for a new feature or a modification of a feature posted in the Bug Tracker will be deleted on the spot!
Avatars and signature
In order to facilitate the reading material of the forum and to avoid the eye fatigue, animated images are not permitted for avatars and signatures.
Concerning signatures:
– the font must have the default size,
– they must not be longer than 6 lines,
– the images are limited to a 480px x 80px size.
No support by PM or e-mail
Demands for help are not permitted by PM (private message) or by e-mail to the PrestaShop team.
The forum is there for that and you will have more chance to have a response by posting on the forum.
Additionally, if you post your question to the forum it will be useful for everyone!
PMs are there to transmit personal and/or confidential information, report a problem concerning the forum or the prestashop.com web site, or for other private conversations.
This forum is at the disposal of the community so that the members can help each other.
Please do not consider it as a hotline for PrestaShop, nor as an after-sale service for PrestaStore.com or PrestaBox.com.
If necessary, please use the contact form on the proper web site:
* PrestaStore : http://www.prestasto...ontact-form.php
* PrestaBox : http://www.prestabox...ontact-form.php

No advertising
Apart the forum "Paid modules, job offers and paid services," advertising is forbidden on the English forums outside of the signature.
In respect for others, please do not post your advertising in a topic of another provider.
Lastly, if you are advertising for a site that proposes your services, this web site must contain all the information proving the legality of your activity (legal mention, etc.).
Any advertising that does not respect these rules will be immediately deleted.
External links
In forums other than "Paid modules, job offers and paid services", links to a site offering paying products are prohibited unless that link answers the question asked in the topic. Such a link must point precisely to the concerned product page.
These rules are valid whether the posts are made by the product's creator or by a third party.
Any link that does not respect these rules will be immediately deleted.
Precise responses
Some users distinguish themselves by posting lots of responses, in a very concise way, just to spread their signature containing a link or to increase their number of messages, to gain credibility, and finally to give themselves authority to discreetly spread their advertisement.
Members suspected of using this strategy risk being banned from the forum.
When you give a response, please do it in a precise and complete way.
Public accusations and dishonest practices
To preserve the mood of the PrestaShop community, any type of public accusations (stealing of themes, of pieces of source code, of general terms of sale, etc.) will not be tolerated.
If there is a case for concern, please in the first politely contact the person using the Private Messaging function (PM) or by e-mail. If necessary, please forward the information to a moderator or to the PrestaShop team.
It will then be decided if the member will be banned from the forum.
More generally, messages conveying a malign spirit are also prohibited. These include, but are not limited to, unsubstantiated criticism directed to a competitor or a member of the forum, attacks against the moderators or anything else that may affect the climate of the forum.
The moderators can be counted on to assess the issue at hand.
Members that own a shop that have dishonest practices (selling themes or protected modules without authorization, counterfeit products, etc.) will be systematically banned.
Do not hesitate to tell the PrestaShop team of any shop that uses the name and/or logo of PrestaShop without permission to realize some commercial benefits.
Topic management
A person who creates a topic that aims to regroup some useful information for the community has a right to manage it freely and to ask people not to add posts in order to keep his topic "clean".
Posts that are not helping with the direction of a topic will be immediately deleted by moderators.

Advice for better use of the forums
Conducting a search
Before posting a question, find out if it is already posted in the forum!
Please do some research. It is easy and it saves time for everyone:
– to yourself because you will not have to write the question,
– to others because they will not have to read the question,
– to others because they will not have to write an answer,
– to yourself because you will not have to wait for an answer.
If your problem is related to an error message, copy and paste a small part of the error message into your search engine. Choose a pertinent part, and not elements that are only relevant to your case (domain name, file path, line number, number of bytes, etc.). You will likely find someone else who has had a similar issue and who may be able to help you solve it.
Consult the "sticky" topics
In certain forums, specific topics are pinned permanently at the top of the topics listing as a way to highlight them. They generally contain important or practical information responding to PrestaShop’s most frequently asked questions.
Detailed questions
Please provide details in your posts, you will obtain responses more rapidly and more easily, instead of additional questions.
Avoid posts like "Everything is in the title". It is rare that a title is really sufficient. Ask yourself if specific information could be useful, like which version of PrestaShop you are using, your hosting, etc.
Here is a list of information that could be useful:
Installation type (new/update):
PS version:
Theme (default/customized):
Code (original/modified):
Hosting:
PHP version:
MySQL version:
Browser(s) concerned:
You can copy this list from below and paste it into your help demand:
Report a post
When a post violates the rules of the forum with (non-extensive list):
– insults,
– spam, advertisement, non-declared professionals,
– use of another language than the one used in forum,
– writing in capitals,
Please report it to the moderators by clicking on the [Report] link located in the top right of each post.
If you have accidentally posted a message in the wrong forum, you can also use this function to ask for your post to be moved, specifying its correct location.
Reputation Points
In the PrestaShop forums, Reputation Points are your way of recognizing someone who provides constructive contributions to our software and your issues. They are not intended to “upvote or downvote” a particular post. Rather, they provide a quick, big-picture view of a poster’s overall contributions to the PrestaShop forums. Do not assign negative reputation points if you disagree with an individual post. Negative points are intended for posters who take away from the conversation in some way, such as irrelevant or inflammatory speech.
Moderators
Moderators are here to make sure that the rules of the forum are respected. They are people we have faith in.
If the moderators in your community become inactive, or if you encounter some serious problems with one of them, please let the PrestaShop team know (in English or French, by PM or e-mail).
Please see the "Contact" section below for more details.
Contributions - Code
If you post a theme, a module, or even a piece of source code adding a feature to Prestashop, or fixing a bug, it is important to specify which PrestaShop version it is related to!
A contribution created for a specific version will not necessarily be applicable to a previous version or to a future one.

Be careful with counterfeit!
Some people use the name and/or the logo of PrestaShop in their shop. Even if it is not always in a dishonest way, it could create confusion with the user, thinking that they are dealing with an official PrestaShop website. If you have any concerns about a potential impersonator, please contact us directly.
We then contact the concerned sites and ask them to remove any offending information. In general, to avoid confusion, please note that only the following sites are officially affiliated with PrestaShop:
* prestashop.fr – PrestaShop company's site.
* prestashop.com – PrestaShop community's site.
* prestastore.com – PrestaShop's market place in English.
* prestastore.fr – PrestaShop's market place in French .
* prestastore.es – PrestaShop's market place in Spanish.
* prestabox.com – Hosting for PrestaShop stores without technical constraints.
* prestashop.me – PrestaShop 's previous hosting solution. Now redirected to PrestaBox.com
Contact
If you are in one of the following situations, please contact the PrestaShop Community Managers (Patric Codron, Carl Favre in France or Mike Kranzler in the United States):
– Problem with the PrestaShop.com site, forum, etc.
– Problem with a community member
– Problem with a community moderator
– Problem with a member of the PrestaShop team
– A topic concerning an important/urgent/critical bug encountered by a significant number of users
– You think that your mother tongue's community needs an additional moderator, and you would like to be a moderator or propose someone from this community who would fit
– You think that a community has enough members on the forum to have a dedicated forum.
