Free gift disappears from cart after login

Hi there,

 

I have created a cart price rule in PS 1.5 and added an article with a zero value as a free gift.

If a customer is not logged in and applies the voucher, this article shows up as a shopping cart productline (as it should).

 

When the customer logs in and returns to the cart, the free gift is gone!

 

Furthermore, if the customer tries to re-apply the voucher, PS says: "You cannot use this voucher anymore (usage limit reached)"....

 

If I echo $total_discounts_negative to the screen, it is empty. This problem does NOT occur with discount vouchers or free shipping-vouchers. They are kept intact after logging in.

 

So my two questions are:

 

1) why does PS remove the free gift from the cart?

2) apparently the free gift is also removed from the discount-variable. Where do I find this variable?

It seems that when creating a free-gift-rule, your "Total available for each user" has to be set to (at least?) 2.

This does not apply to discount-rules or free-shipping-rules, they can remain 1....
