Wiping test data and confidence in Prestashop

Recommended Posts

Having now installed prestashop on my server I have started to explore and configure it. So far I do not feel at all comfortable moving forward with this software as I am not finding it user friendly at all and it simply appears to me that the aim is to encourage people to buy add ons - I may be wrong as it is still early days.

I added some products and categories to the test data and experienced some issues getting them to work but thought there may be a conflict with existing data so decided to wipe the database and start with a clean slate.

After wiping and reading the warnings I was amazed to see one of my new categories still showing in the catalogue > monitoring screen and also my company data showing on the homepage - surely it should all be blank?

I am feeling less and less confident about using Prestashop as the number of hours setting up to find future problems does worry me. Can someone shed any light or convince me that i am in the right place?

Well I have kept on and have discovered that I am not allowed to delete the category because "one of my shops is using it as the root category". I have now renamed it to "Home" and carried on.

Currently have an issue where I am adding products to the cart (as a customer) and when i get to the checkout the cart is empty!!

This looks like a long road

let us  know how you get it sorted...

being a shop manager...is a big hat.....back office  front office  hosting  webmastering...

just make sure if you have new issue post new topic...if your question is solved...mark  it solved....

welcome to ps, chin up...one can take a hobby online...and with hard work...sit on the beach and watch the money wheel turn. :)

one more thing...

never delete anything..

disable it...

that is all

Thanks, I am slowly beginning to feel as if I am getting somewhere but not sure.

The empty cart issue appears to be a pc problem as it was working ok and then went wrong but on another pc it was fine again. I have had some issues with saving new products and the screen going blank - refresh and when you check your products it has added it twice. Not sure if a pc issue but had it on both desktop and laptop so maybe not or a hosting issue (currently hosted on lcn).

I will keep at it but not looking as quick as I was hoping.
