Hi,

 

I need a step by step, on how to move from my local pcwith local setup to a hosted server

It is shop 1.6.0.9 running bootstap-defaulttheme on a wampserver

I have tried to follow your tutrorial, but run into a problem, maybe you can help  ?

I have uploaded all the files to public.html folder. (have also tried to place the files in the root, and www folder, same result)

I have importet the database

When typing refanbutik.dk I get nothing else but a 404 response.

I think maybee a indeks file must be placed in the root ? what else can be wrong ?

404? Try erasing your .htaccess, or login to the back office and save again the page Seo and Urls

It didn´t work. I can´t access backoffice.

The errror I get seems to tell that a file or something is missing ?

Try looking at www.refanbutik.dk

Are you sure you pointed the domain to the correct folder?

Hi,

Thanks for your brilliant tutorial.

 

I'm moving from a Bitnami WAMP stack PrestaShop module install to my webhost.

 

I copied the local database and files, updated setting.inc.php and hit the localhost snag.

 

Then I found this thread and your tutorial.

 

I had to fiddle with the URLs a bit but I managed to update the 3 URLs in the database and hey Presta! it works, sort of

 

Now instead of localhost it displays PrestaShop but without any theme or formatting, just plain text html (see attached screenshot)

How boring

 

As usual I'm sure it's just a couple more tweaks

 

my files are located http://my.server.com/presta/htdocs

 

Database entries:

PS_SHOP_DOMAIN             my.server.com/presta/htdocs

PS_SHOP_DOMAIN_SSL     myserver.com/presta/htdocs

 

ps_shop_url:

domain           myserver.com

domain_ssl     myserver.com

physical_uri    /presta/htdocs

 

Update:

 

It doesn't seem to change anything when I set:

PS_SHOP_DOMAIN             my.server.com

PS_SHOP_DOMAIN_SSL     myserver.com

 

btw I do clear my browser cache after changes just to be sure

I have now tried to install prestashop in original version and made my copy on top of this.

Now I have access to my backoffice, but not frontoffice, with all my products etc.

I have tried to save seo & URL once again without result.

 

Then I played a bit with the URL´s and suddenly it worked.

Prompted by the last post from Rasmus1970, I've made a fresh install on the web host.

 

It was quite slow and I thought it had got stuck at 76% but it's finally complete.

 

It seems to work fine!

 

Is there an easy way to export the local PrestaShop and import into the online version?

 

Failing that I suppose I can try putting my site and database on top of the new one?

I've just used Advanced Parameters, DB Backup to export the local database.

Then I followed the 10 easy steps, included, to import the database onto the remote server.

 

It seemed to work but had again reverted to localhost.

So I changed the 4 relevant database entries and it works better than the manual migration.

 

I'll attempt the instructions the following soon:

Until then I think I'll just have to work on the remote site until or unless there's an easier way.

I gave up trying to copy the local site to the remote server.

 

I've customised the remote site now.

 

I'll try to copy it back to a fresh local instance.

 

Assuming it's easy enough to get another instance running?

 

I'd have thought it's almost essential for people to be able to easily move:

• from server to server
• from remote to local and back again

 

It surprises me for such an advanced eCommerce solution that there's not at easy way to do it.

 

I think there's a paid plugin or 2 which might do the job but I'd want to be sure they work for my setup before purchase.

Well, no idea why it's not working for you, it shouldn't be that complicated really, just

1- exporting the database

2- importing it live

3- uploading files

4- changing db credentials

5- erasing htaccess

6- modifying the site url from the back office

It's working!

 

As a quick update:

 

The problem was that I was using a sub-folder.

e.g. yoursite.com/htdocs

 

So I simply:

• I created a sub-domain (e.g. shop.yoursite.com).
• Updated the 3 domain related database entries.

 

Now it works!
