upgrade considerations (1.4.3 -> 1.6.0.9)

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I have inherited a Prestashop powered webshop and i need to upgrade it from 1.4.3 to 1.6.0.9.

I have developed a theme locally in 1.6.0.9 and wanted to upload it to the upgraded instance.

I did the upgrade, everything went smooth, but:

  • the imported theme on 1.6.0.9 is all messed up, does not like on local. That is because of overwrites and modules&positions problem.

I had to revert it back to 1.4.3, because I could not manage the situation in short time. That went ok fortunately.

My question is what is the best approach here to have an upgrade of Prestashop and have a new theme as well?

Is there a way to reset all modules and positions to default in 1.6.0.9 after doing an upgrade (that would help a lot, since my newly developed theme would look the same as on local dev server)?

Since this is a multi language instance it would be pretty hard to transfer all data into a brand new install. I am sceptic in doing it.

So what do you recommend?

Thanks,

Balazs

My shop is in 1.4.6.2 prestashop version and I have many problems now. I want to download the new 1.6 version, but I can not find any help, since no one from presta does reasure me that the existing e-shop won't crash!

Where can I find some help about that?

I suggest reviewing the official upgrade guide before starting:
