Help on retrieving my image in long descriptions

I faced a fatal problem using prestashop:

 

Nearly thousand of pictures which I have uploaded in long descriptions became "X"

 

I ve spent many day and night just to upload image.

 

But it became the symbol "X"............  

 

I believe I have clicked regenerate thumbnails or maybe save an image for watermark.

 

Please take note everyone.. It could be very time consuming.

 

Any suggestion to retrieve the pictures back are most welcome !
