Please, I beg you, 301 REDIRECT!

Recommended Posts

I have moved my site from a really bad hosted cart solution to my own Prestashop, but now obviously every link has changed. /category has now become /4-category, and /product-name has now become /6574-product-name-6576746578346537.html

I have tried absolutely everything. Every variation either works temporarily, works for one thing and not another, or doesn't work at all.

Category redirects work, but then when I use the exact same method for a product it doesn't work. If I get a product review page or article to redirect, I still can't get a product to do it. Then when I do, something else goes wrong - like clicking the product directly in the shop tells me it's resulting in a redirect that will never resolve...

Anyone have any ideas?

this looks like good investment

http://addons.prestashop.com/en/seo-prestashop-modules/11399-301-302-303-url-redirects-seo.html

note: there may be other  solutions depending on old cart....i.e. oscommerce redirects to prestashop

but trying to do this manually via .htaccess well as you know can be huge stress

@maconl, (777? no advised, now some hosting will 500 when access to folder/file permissioin to 'loose')...htaccess should be 664 on most hosting) now please give me 30 push ups..:)

Hi ,

have you tried to delete the .htaccess ?

delete this one and replace it with an empty .htaccess and give it 777 rights

after that clear your prestashop cache

would like to hear the result

Nothing changed. Attemped to create a 301 redirect on a product and it's still going back to 404

I would if there was a guarantee it would work. But if EVERY attempt at manually doing this is failing the problem is not likely to be resolved by buying a mod that probably won't work.

oops forgot to add that after PS created the new htaccess to turn it back into 644  :o

on some servers for some unknown reason when you have it still 644 it will not overwrite ,

ok now i start with the push ups

"probably doesn't' work"...ye of little faith...I tend not to 'recommend' poor module solution,  or give off-handed advice.  If you are not technical enough to create redirects, (note: this is 'not' a prestashop question) then if not module solution you also could post in 'job offers'

suerte(luck)
