new install and testing imports

Recommended Posts

Hi I am seeking some ones help on this.

Firstly my site has been upgraded many times over the last year a few back i think something went very wrong.

now modules never save they don`t show up in positions even after re-instals and rest of modules etc.

So i wish to try a fresh install possibly using the same database.

So i wanted to first setup in another folder a fresh install.

I have done this.

I then installed my them and other modules i use. (complete)

now for the tricky part importing products categories etc.

so could some one please tell me first am i going about this right or wrong.

if i am using the same data base but just a 100% fresh re-install software

I.e. backup old folder on domain and then delete it and copy new install into place

Except admin folder and images i keep from old install

will this work?

I have a feeling there is old files not updated and other files sitting about.

then again it could be my data base causing this which brings me to my second question.

I know i will loose customer passwords.

but is it possible to import everything from the database. Example product comments user accounts vouchers.

I have tried a simple category import from old prestashop (currently in use) to the new install on a new database and it fail every time.

Why does a simple export from presta shop to presta shop fail?

error attached.

similar to products they say tax id is wrong. but i created tax same names etc.
