No Carriers Error

Recommended Posts

I am using PS 1.6.0.8.

I have not been able to get carriers assigned to domestic (USA) orders even though I installed USPS and UPS modules so tried this test.

1. Turned on all Zones.

2. Turned on several different countries.

3. Confirmed that US has States turned on.

4. Confirmed that the states involved in my test are Enabled.

5. Disabled all current carriers and created a new custom "Test Carrier" and set parameters so that "Test Carrier" could ship any box under 1000 pounds to anywhere in the world for $10. See attached screen grabs.

6. I changed the Default Carrier to "Test Carrier"

7. Created a new test user with an address in the same state as my store and place an item (shipping weight = 1 pound) into shopping cart and proceeded to checkout. As you can see from the attached I still get a "No Carrier" message.

Is there any way to fix this short of deleting my entire store and starting over?

Thanks,

Bob

Solved the problem. The store was corrupted, so I built a new store and the above problem went away.

For what it's worth: I recommend not following the installation instructions, in part. When the instructions say to upload the extracted files from the downloaded zip file you will have to upload 6400+ files and I think this is where my problems started. Filezilla gave a few errors but also gave the impression that, through retries, it resolved the problems. Obviously not. So, on the rebuild effort I used FileZilla to upload the zip file to my server then used the server's File Manager to extract the files and place them in the correct place. It took a few more steps but less time because uploading the zip file was significantly faster than uploading all those uncompressed files, plus no errors.

Hello bgood3354.

When you have the ability of server-side extraction of compressed archives, it is best practice to go this way.

The problem is that such ability is not always present in all cases, so the installation guides of various web apps have to aim for the lowest common denominator, which is to assume that the user can only upload files one-by-one.
