Background works great on computers, but not on mobile devices?

I have my website looking exactly how I want it by editing a default theme for 1.5

 

However, if I use an iPad to view the site, everything works fine but the background is too large (stays the same as it would on a computer, making half of it missing and the bit you can see be in the middle of the page when it should be at the top left corner)

 

I want to know how to change this so the background works on any device? I can enable the mobile viewing for iPads but it's pretty boring - I lose a lot of the colours and customisation so I'd rather have the full site.

you have to define media queries, then you will be able to use differnt image for your background, with correct dimensions.

you can also use background width like 100% then it will be stretched to mobile screen size.
