Unable to login to admin panel

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to PrestaShop and having trouble logging into my admin page.  The email address and password are correct as I have perviously logged in successfully.  I currently cannot log in but even when I can I often get redirected back to login page when navigating around the panel.

I have reset password, emptied cache, changed from safari to Firefox but the problem persists.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks, John

Hi Benjamin, I deleted the cookies and cache but the problem remains. On some occasions I can successfully log in however as soon as I try to navigate throughout the admin panel the login page reappears.  Same problem on mobile (in fact cannot log in at all on mobile).

Thanks, John

Hi cookie28, you need to check out the permissions and ownerships on your file set.  If you are setting up on a hosted server then you will need to make sure that you have uploaded the files via ftp with the correct user.  Some web server setups require that certain permissions are set on the files and directories  - ie 0777 might stop the site working where as 0770 will be fine.

My problem was that I had uploaded and moved files around as a root user - I was testing on a development server and using shell access.  So everything appeared to have installed properly, but the permissions were wrong and therefore access to the admin pages failed to load properly.

Let me know how you get on and I'll help if I can :)

Thanks for the feedback on this issue. How did you end up solving your problem? You had experience with servers or was your hosting provider able to sort it out?

I have my own server on the net so I am totally responsible for it, plus I have shell access to it which makes life so much easier :)

You will need to use your FTP application to look at the permissions on the files and folders - I'll post up what you should be seeing later on - bit tight on time at the moment.

Ah okay, yeah even hosting companies have some strange permission sets. Usually you can change them in FTP but sometimes the actually chmod number can be different as you stated. I've noticed that especially with some international, outside of the US hosting companies.

hello

it's a "fresh" installation of prestashop engine? or it's an old one and login form just started to give you this issue?

I used the 1-click upgrade from version 1.5.4.1 . The earlier version was working fine. Permissions were ok in the previous version.

if you see blank page - turn on error reporting

it's necessary to see where the problem is (it's first step in debug process)

its for 90% your browser.

clear the cache and the cookies or download another browser and try it again.

it can also maybe the pretashop cache

delete (or rename) the cache maps cache/smarty and /cachefs

good luck
