Ok, there's far too many people asking for paypal web payments pro and i really can't ignore it.
As there are two different systems (thanks paypal) and i will start with the American one.
I think i can get a developer account.
However, if there is anyone out there with an active American (must be American) wpp account who would be willing to test the module before it goes live, please PM me. You will need to be co-operative and some experience with paypal / php would be a bonus. You must certainly know how to install / uninstall modules.
In terms of UK Residents... It will come, but until then you can use my protx direct module:

Ok, so it turns out...
Unless i'm a valid American business, i can't even sign up for a developer account.
If someone would wish to provide me with working developer account login details for American paypal pro via PM (don't post them here).
I will use this account to develope the plugin.
If not... i can't make a plugin i can't even sign up to the merchant for...

Hi elachys,
Great news you have started work on the WPP API!! Could I just ask why you stopped work on the UK version if you have done some work already? I am really desperate to implement WPP on my UK site before the end of the month. I am happy to help test the development if it helps.
I have read what you have posted about about using ProTX instead of PayPal but there are some cost savings for some businesses using a PayPal Pro account like ours. We sell through multiple channels and use WPP for our main website, PayPal basic for eBay sales and PayPal virtual terminal for MOTO telesales orders. We can achieve this all with one PayPal account which our back office Finaware by Linn Systems reads via a PayPal API for global finance, inventory and shipping management.
ProTX require you to have two separate merchant accounts for Web & MOTO transactions.
Please could you or anybody let me know what we can do about getting WPP Payflow working for UK sites running Prestashop as soon as possible.
Regards,
Darren

i'm going to be quick as i'm using my phone.
UK WPP uses a different system than the american one.
People in the UK have the option to use protx.
Americans do not. The have no method of on-site payment.
This makes the american system higher priority.
I'm certainly not saying that i will never make a UK module.
I'm sympathetic to smaller merchants. I just have other things to do...

Hi elachys,
Thanks for your comments, authorize.net have the largest market share for on-site payments in the USA comparable with ProTX (soon to be SagePay) in the UK.
I appreciate only you can decide how best to prioritise your development time.
For any other developers reading this thread we are far from a small merchant and have our own developers in India quoting on writing a UK WPP API for Prestashop but although good with php do not have experience with the Prestashop architecture, if any community developers would like to contribute or quote for the work we are willing to beta test or pay for your time. Please PM me.

Unfortunately i have no intention of writing every payment module for prestashop and would certainly appreciate other module developers taking a swing at it.
Thanks for your input on the American payment systems. I chose to go for American WPP not out of any favouritism (hell i can't even use the module as i live in the UK) but because that's what people asked for. I'm simply trying to give on-site payment to every prestashop user, one country at a time :-)
I'm sorry if i sound blunt but I really don't care what your personal choice in payment provider is. I worked out a long time ago that i can't please everyone.
I originally chose protx because one of my paid customers asked for it and very kindly agreed to let me release it once i was done.
If they'd chosen WPP, you'd have your UK module by now.
If you're not a small merchant then you should have no problem affording the fee's that come with using protx. You have the OPTION to use Protx. As far as i can tell, Americans don't get to choose. They get the off-site modules or nothing.
I wish you all the luck in getting a British WPP module, feel free to PM me if you have questions or problems during the development.
I wouldn't outsource to India as i've had terrible experiences with this in the past.
If you do get something working, please remember to give back to prestashop by releasing your modules free and open source.
If you would like to release your module free and open source but your developers are having trouble getting started, feel free to use my protx direct module as a base to work from.

Thank you elachys for your continued comments, however I do think you are missing the PayPal vs ProTX point as it is not just about money.
Good luck with your work on WPP for your the US.
Please could other community members consider this post request as open.
Thanks,
Darren

We have our developer looking at it now.
I will keep the community undated and post the module here when it is finished and tested.

I was wondering this Paypal Web Payments Pro America would work on a Canadian Paypal account?
Thank you,

I hate to be a pest but do you have any estimation of when the paypal payments pro module will be completed? My client is soooo unhappy with the current checkout process and after all the work that went into setting up the site I don't want to see it be thrown aside over this.
Hi Ishi,
Thanks for the reply. I actually got someone to make a Credit Card for me in canada because I figure out it would be cheaper having a merchant account than PayPal Pro Payment. Also I was wondering is the PayPal that is available with Prestashop 1.1 stable at all?
Thank you,
Dat

I have just downloaded the latest svn version of prestashop and there is a new paypal module called paypalIPN seems to include paypal express and asks for api usernames and passwords etc, this could be paypal pro?

Unfortunately not. The SVN module for PayPal IPN is for better basic PayPal integration or PayPal Express which is the 3 click checkout equivalent to Google Checkout.
I am still having problems with our developer being able to schedule time for a UK WPP so if any others are reading this and wish to earn some money please PM me.
