Prestashop could not connect to Canada Post webservices : Canada Post Webservice seems to be down

Recommended Posts

I am having a problem with the Canada Post module, it constantly gives me this message when I try to set up the module:

"Prestashop could not connect to Canada Post webservices :

Canada Post Webservice seems to be down, please wait a few minutes and try again."

When I first set it up, it worked fine, now it won't work.

I've triple checked the merchant ID that Canada Post gave me and it's correct.

I haven't changed any of the coding, and I've reinstalled the module multiple times, even recopied the original files from Prestashop download to my modules section again.

Any ideas on what I can do?

Make sure that your web host is not blocking port 30,000. Many shared hosting environments seem to block this port by default, and the CP module won't work unless it's open for outbound TCP connections.

Google canada post port 30,000 for a slew of threads on this annoying topic, and be sure to check out the helpful "Guidance for Canada Post Shipping Module" post by scrapbookingroom here: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/157067-guidance-for-canada-post-shipping-module/

(For some reason the above thread seems INVISIBLE to the PS forum search system)

Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I checked with my hosting provider and 30,000 is open. I will review the link you listed above and see if i can get things working.

So far, I'm extremely unimpressed with the lack of documentation for this module, and the strange cross-issues that seem to be an intrinsic part of its setup. Having said that, I had a real trial trying to get Canada Post to set up an account for me and it is probable that the module developer has had difficulty getting any real support from CP. The CP website, is pathetic in it's documentation of the implementation of ecommerce linkages.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm using Canada Post 0.8 with latest Prestashop. I have received a shop online account from Canada post and entered it into the module as per other forum posts on the module. Is there any other info that might be helpful? I get the same connection error as listed above.

Thanks

I also have the same problem. My ISP doesn't block the outbound port 30000 and I check my Retailer ID with Canada Post. Canada Post said my retailer ID is active.

I did

telnet sellonline.canadapost.ca 30000

seems ok and working fine.

I have no idea what wrong but never work!!

I am having the same problem with Canada Post Rates Calculator Version 1.1. I got my web hosting provider to unblock port 30000. So I tried to configure the module again and I am having the same problem. I have CPC number from Canada Post and I have my online account set up.

Please help. Thank you!
