Instructions for the contest:

1. Install the latest version of PrestaShop (1.1 beta 4)
2. Go to your Back Office > Tools > Languages and add your own language
3. Go to the Translations tab, click on your language flag, and translate each section4. When your translation is complete, send it by e-mail to translate at prestashop dot com with your full postal address so that you can receive your iPod if you win!
5. You will receive an e-mail within 24h to confirm that your submission has been accepted for this contest!

PrestaShop v1.0 Release Candidate 4

With the release of PrestaShop v1.0 Release Candidate 4, the PrestaShop team has taken a big step in stabilizing its e-commerce shopping-cart solution. The final stable version 1.0 is right around the corner!

Dozens of bugs were fixed for RC4, many of which were pointed out by our faithful users on our community forum.
For a complete list of fixes and changes, please consult the Changelog.

There are also a few new features.
Principal among them:

- Assign taxes to a state or region

- Select a price reduction validity interval

- HTML or Text e-mail type

- Search product by reference on the Front Office

- ‘PrestaShop update available’ notice in Back Office

- New block hooks for the customer account and the shopping cart

- Set ranges (fees) for each carrier

Please help us get PrestaShop v1.0 that much closer to completion by reporting any bugs in the Bug Report section of our Forum.

Helping the Community is accessible to anyone

Good afternoon! (right here, right now it’s saturday afternon )

Since some weeks now, I read a lot of posts about people asking for the next release, and when we ask them to help us, they simply reply “I’m not a developer, I cannot help”.
That’s wrong! Completly wrong!

You’re maybe not a developer, code could looks like chinese to you BUT you have skills, experiences which are usefull!

Taking a concrete exemple, inside the “Installation, configuration and upgrade” forum, I see a topic called “First time few questions”.
Who here think he cannot help someone posting such a topic?

So helping the community is completly accessible.

How that could made the RC1 coming sooner?
All the time you spend to solve/reply topics begin available for us to work on the release.

So please understand how a community works: you don’t came and take what you want and leave, you came, ask what you want and help people when it’s possible.
And don’t tell me that giving a link to another topic or to the wiki is difficult neither than explaining how shipping costs’ working.

Hi everyone!

We’re aware of your impatient concerning the 1.1RC1 release and since I heard about a screenshots’ suggestion we thought that it could be a good idea to post some screenshots.
Understand that it is a personal initiative and that it won’t be systematic.
Notice also that it is not a definitive version, even if we ended the new features’ developement, bugs often made us in a position that require complete reorganization.

I leave the thread open in the purpose you post some feedbacks but please do not pollute it by reporting bug issues as we can see in other official announcements

PrestaShop’s releases method and v1.1RC1 news

Hi everyone!

Following a “coup de gueule” (ranting) on the French-language sub-forum about a PrestaShop information blackout about the next release, allow me to try to fix that here (French-speakers can have a look here at my original post).

I. About dates

Everyday people ask us “When will the next release will be available? When? When?”, so we reply approximatively, considering known bugs.
Except that when they’re solved, either we go back and find new ones, or you find new ones for us.
So again we reply with the standard answer, “The release date will be delayed,” we give you a new approximation, and the story repeats itself.
Thus, we will not provide any dates about upcoming releases.
(By this we do not mean that the next release will be in 6 months; we are weary of giving dates that rarely turn out to be accurate.)

II. Release method

The following is a typical cycle of development for the PrestaShop team.

Critical bug fixes
New features development
Major bug fixes
Search for new bugs
Resolution of new bugs
Obviously, there are always new bugs to correct. So after a while, when only “minor” ones remain, we create a testing version.
New installation (of the testing version) and upgrade from a previous build
Testing of those installations
Bug fixes
Repeat from step 6)
Build a non-public beta version which is sent to a small group of beta testers and translators
Last-minute bug correction
Release!

PrestaShop v1.0 Release Candidate 5

Our 19th and final pre-v1.0 beta release is now available for download. PrestaShop v1.0 RC5 is the most stable and complete v1.0 release candidate to date. It had better be—the next release will be the official version of the PrestaShop e-Commerce Solution 1.0!

Dozens of bugs were fixed, but this time, no new features were included. We decided to not add any new features until after the release of version 1.0, for the simple reason that new features almost always bring new bugs.

Rest assured, we have not stopped developing new features. The following features are nearly complete and will be among the new features we’ll be offering with v1.1, due out early this fall:

- Customer review with rating stars

- Customized product (text only)

In the meantime, please help us iron out the remaining bumps in v1.0 by reporting your RC5 bugs to the Bug Report section of our Forum!
