Hi Adam!
I’m affraid I failed to reproduce your issue.
I just upgrade from a RC2 to 1.0 final and everything happened well.
I checked my _COOKIE_KEY_ & _COOKIE_IV_ and they are both identical with originals.
Could you tell us from which version did you upgrade please?

This must of been RC5
which I fixed with my solution above for a couple of members in this community

RC5? Ok I’ll try to reproduce it so ;P
Your solution above?
I do not see any solution above. Could you describe it please?
Best regards,

Hi Adam!
I installed a fresh RC5, moved it to a new name.
Extracted the 1.0.0.8 version on a folder nammed like my shop’s original one.
Copy my settings.inc.php file to it.
Changed its permissions to 777.
Launched the installation wizard.
Result: my _COOKEY_KEY_ and _COOKEY_IV_ are STILL THE SAME
So if yours have changed, it is only because YOU modified them, even by accident (such as playing with the installer, stoping it during updates or installation procedures, ...).
Please try again to install a RC5 and update to 1.0.0.8 detailling EXACTLY each thing you’re doing.
Thank in advance.

Unfortuntly this does not effect me but others I have helped so it’s difficult to speak for them, but maybe you need to go through this with Rory
I’m not sure how the key changes but it does for him & several other people, it could have something to do with updating form an earlier version prior to v1. Seems a strange one all I have shown him is the quick fix to restore his cookey_key if this does end up happening again

Rory will be joining us shortly

Ok.
But be aware that the “fix” as you call it (which is actually a “patch") is a very bad solution. It works of course but at very very short term.
Everyone who’ll upgrade to other version (1.1 for instance) will meet this issue again! And will have to correct its settings file each time.
So what we need is to reproduce the situation, find what’s going on and solved it
Best regards,

I realise this will only be a temp solution & have tried to get people such as Rory to discuss this with you, but I think they must prefer to stick to the forum
I will try again
