PrestaShop v1.5.2 Houses Major Improvements

PrestaShop v1.5 changed the open source e-commerce game by delivering to the world a fast, easy and modern e-commerce solution. And over the past few weeks, PrestaShop’s developers have been working tirelessly to improve v1.5 so our Community can continue to experience the best online shopping-cart solution imaginable.

Today, the fruits of our labor have paid off as we are proud to announce the release of PrestaShop v1.5.2. The new version is packed with improvements, making v1.5.2 the best version of PrestaShop to date!

Some of the major improvements made in v1.5.2 include:

  • Enhanced shopping cart performance
  • Fixed a bug that caused an error when generating invoices
  • Fixed the filter in Back Office which crashed on “Customer” tab
  • Fixed the sort filter that was not working on any Back Office tab
  • Fixed various issues with the Combinations Generator
  • Improved CSV import functionality

PrestaShop’s developers have also worked hard to improve the “1-click Upgrade” (AutoUpgrade) module so every user can flawlessly update their existing e-commerce website(s) to PrestaShop v1.5.2.

Additional improvements made in v1.5.2 include:

  • Redesigned the user interface of the home page.
  • Rewrote text for clarity including the descriptions, options, help, etc…
  • Removed the need for validated options, the module now sets default values instead
  • Improved “Expert Mode” experience when completing a back-up
  • Removed unnecessary warnings and re-incorporated them into the text
  • Corrected a bug in which “RollBack” was displayed even if no backup was available
  • Corrected missing strings to be translated in French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese

The entire PrestaShop team would like to thank you for your patience and support. Without you, PrestaShop would not be where it is today. We continue to value your suggestions and feedback and look forward to making PrestaShop better every day.

  1. We would like to use Prestashop for our clients here in germany – But it is not usable in terms of legal preferences. Could it be feasible to rework the checkout process in the upcoming version. In detail it means that payment is placed in the process and not at the end (e.g. Oxid / Shopware). If this would be changed… we would sell it to our clients because we are convinced by the prestashop features and performance. – Kai

    Hi Kai,

there is a fix available for the German “1 Button Lösung”. We host several clients in Germany which love using Prestashop :-)

  3. Regarding “Rewrote text for clarity including the descriptions, options, help, etc…” and “Removed unnecessary warnings and re-incorporated them into the text”,
how do we find the strings that need updated translation?

  4. I have to say that, on the whole Prestashop has met almost all of my shop structure with one major exception. The lack of a mitl-tiered affiliate module means I am having to ask someone to modify a WordPress module to try make it fir.

Is there nothing that meets the structure and management of a standard MLM affiliate scheme – something I would have thought was absolutely essential for Prestasho? Or have I simply missed something obvious that is there already?

  5. … multi-tiered …

These problems in PrestaShop not allow me to use your product, because I am dealing with the goods from different zones to the customer!
    Shipping in PrestaShop has flaws!
It is impossible organize the Shipping completely, simple an example of DHL, if I live in Zone 1 (example) I can make Shipping in any area 2,3,4,5 .. it works in PrestaShop good, but you can not add zone, configure the Shipping between zones, an example, I have a Shipping from the U.S. to anywhere and if I want to add another Shipping from China to any country, it is PrestaShop can not do, this is very bad!
Another, zone settings in PrestaShop not like as DHL, FedEx, UPS … countries are not properly sorted in zones PrestaShop, it must be done by hand, it is long and hard!
Maybe I can not know well or in a new version you fix it?
These all mistakes must be corrected immediately!

When is the Klarna integration ready?

On this page I find that Klarna will be included in version 1.5:

  9. Having run our main website on osCommerce for the past 10′ish years we decided to move over to prestashop this month. The main reason for moving was the fact that osC is rather dated in terms of coding and the promised version 3 has never really materialised, despite several launch announcements.
I had tested presta 1.4 on another website and was really impressed, so when we took the plunge with our main site I decided to go with 1.5.2 as it sounded like the business.
Installation was a breeze and 1.5 has pretty much everything we needed out of the box. The only down side is the number of bugs in the software, some of them pretty major. To be honest if you don’t have a good knowledgeable team installing the software you’d be better sticking with 1.4 until at least the major glitches are ironed out. Overall an excellent shopping cart and I’m sure a couple of releases down the road when the bugs are fixed it’ll be one of the best available.
