Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Olivier Bonningues and I’m 40 years old. I am a telecom training ingeneer and I switched to the internet a few years ago. I launched my consulting company, Oleacorner, to put my skills to good use in object-oriented programming.
I support my clients at each stage of setting up their E-commerce websites: outlining requirements, specific developments, integration, installation, migration, set up, support and debugging.
How did you hear about PrestaShop?
Some friends asked me to design their online shop in 2008. Whilst looking into the Open-Source E-commerce solutions that were on the market, I quickly chose PrestaShop as a simple, easy-to-use and easy-to-modify solution. Over time my hobby became a part-time job and then went full-time in 2010. Since then I only use PrestaShop. What do I like about it? There are lots of modules (price management etc.) on the Addons sites, functional Front Office addons for traders etc.
What makes PrestaShop different?
PrestaShop is an easy-to-use Open-Source solution with a readable code.
What advice would you give software developers working with PrestaShop?
Use the override to avoid core modifications! Don’t hesitate to read information about the software and the many forum posts. Whilst taking part in PrestaShop’s many events, especially Barcamp, I met the team members. It’s always useful to get responses to my particular questions and progress in E-commerce.
How would you improve PrestaShop?
Make it easier to customise the basic shopping cart behaviour. I’d like to see shopping cart rules to make even more powerful purchasing facilities.
Why did you decide to become PrestaShop licensed?
I took the licensed freelancer test to assess my skills with the software. I gained recognition from the editor and became a loyal partner to agencies and traders. I can’t wait to go to the next level: certification!
And to conclude?
PrestaShop is growing and structuring itself and it really shows in terms of correspondence. It is much easier to get replies from the team. The solution is still performing brilliantly and it will only get better. I can’t wait!
