Presenting an Exclusive Sneak Peak at PrestaShop version 1.6

Just this week, at the Paris Ecommerce Salon, our PrestaShop team unveiled the first images and details of our upcoming and much anticipated PrestaShop version 1.6 to a crowded and attentive audience of e-commerce enthusiasts.

After several months of work and long days and nights, PrestaShop version 1.6 is expected to be released at the end of 2013. By working closely with our Community and online merchants, we have developed v1.6. that rethinks how e-marketers use their back office and animate their shop.

The three key enhancements of this version are the following:
- A new responsive Front Office template
- A new responsive Back Office
- A Dashboard designed to better manage your business

Discover all the details and first released images of PrestaShop 1.6!

Good News: upgrading to the new version will be smoother than ever! The core of your PrestaShop store will not be affected which means that the updates from your v.1.5 store will seamlessly integrate and your current modules are fully compatible. All the more reason to look forward to this release!

This looks good. However, I would like to know how much of the core prestashop code has changed. There are bug fixes, but are there any new features? Having a new frontend template is good for those beginning with their shop, but for those already using a custom theme it’s just a set of ideas to consider.

Back office has now its own CSS file, disconnected from my front theme, yes? (/starts praying)

  10. Finally! Such beautiful designs! Actually the old ones were holding me back from using Prestashop at all (Yes, I am a designer) Now it will be pure joy (I hope) to work with Prestashop. So much looking forward to release!
