Get your e-commerce on with PrestaShop v1.5.3!

We at PrestaShop not only believe in the power of change, we embrace it. We welcome outside collaboration and attempt to harness the intellectual prowess of our global Community. We nurture new ideas and innovative thinking by remaining open to constructive criticism. In fact, we encourage it.

We do these things because we believe in the value of chasing a dream. We believe in providing an online world driven by technology with a free and powerful tool for economic success. We also believe that criticism helps us become stronger, and that collaboration yields better results.

All that said, PrestaShop isn’t perfect, we know that. But we also know that together we can achieve great things by working through imperfections to deliver something special.

PrestaShop v1.5.3 is a great example of this, and it gives us great pleasure to announce that the newest version of our software is now available for global use.

Those already familiar with PrestaShop will be thrilled to know that v1.5.3 houses more than 400 improvements, many of which came from users like you via GitHub (thanks for that).

For those looking to enter the e-commerce market, v1.5.3 makes opening, operating and maintaining a successful online store easier and more economical than ever.

Some of the major changes you can expect in v1.5.3 are listed below. To view the full list of improvements, we invite you to check out the changelog.

  • The new v1.5 mobile theme has been optimized
  • URL’s have been simplified for enhanced SEO
  • We’ve improved the functionality of the shopping cart
  • Customer login issues have been fixed
  • Improved cookie management
  • Streamlined price and stock administration
  • Redesigned 404 messages (You can now redirect shoppers to similar products when one product is out of stock)
  • Several native partner modules have been simplified and improved
  • The one-click upgrade module has been reimagined and is now more stable than ever

For existing merchants, the one-click upgrade module is by far easiest way to take full advantage of the new version. However, before upgrading in your Back Office, you’ll need to download the latest version of the auto upgrade module from the Addons store, install it and then follow the steps provided (Click here if you need help).

For new merchants, you can download PrestaShop v1.5.3 for free on our website. You may also want to take a look at our free user guide and peruse our Addons Store before getting started! If you’re having trouble, visit the PrestaShop forum in order to get the assistance you need from our growing Community of 350,000+ members.

Thanks to all of you, PrestaShop v1.5.3 is without question the best version of PrestaShop to date. That said, we appreciate your support and wish you all great success in 2013! It’s going to be a big  year for e-commerce.

    yay! downloaded! :)

  2. First of all, congrats for the easy upgrade, it only took me minutes. :-)

Sorry but I stumbled on something odd:

Client system: Windows 7 “premium”, quite up to date. (Win update is on)
Client browser = Google Chrome recent version (installed last month)

Admin panel -> products -> select a product -> click on associations (or any other tab): the URL changes, but the general product info screen is simply reloaded. This is quite embarassing as I want to move a couple of 100 products from one category to another one.

Is Klarna now finally part of the 1.5.3 release? I’ve received communication from Klarna, that they have done development against 1.5.3 and it will be part of that release. I had a quick look of the module list of the 1.5.3 and didn’t see any Klarna modules there… I’m currently updating test site to latest version to see if it magically there. Could you guys improve your communication with your “industry partners” so we who actually use their services could do that. NOTE: in Klarna’s own site they don’t share modules for 1.5 version, hence the importance of the matter for us.
