Yes, version 0.9.5 is still a beta. There are bugs. But it’s the most sophisticated and stable build so far. To us, PrestaShop software is finally starting to resemble the PrestaShop of all those flowcharts, business plans, PowerPoint presentations, and late-night brainstorming sessions.
However, now is not the time for nostalgia. The final push has only just begun---the goal is to release our official 1.0 version of the PrestaShop e-Commerce Solution in just over a month.
Between now and then, we’ll be releasing a new 0.9.x build every week, each time with added functionality.
The team has already made a nice dent in our features-to-come list. In fact, there are so many improvements over 0.9.2 that we decided to jump ahead a few version numbers, to 0.9.5. Dozens of bugs were squished, as well.
Major enhancements to version 0.9.5 include:
RSS feed module. Displays any RSS feed on your Front Office.
>> Go to Back Office > Modules > Blocks section > RSS block
Maintenance Mode. Take your Front Office offline (for example, when upgrading to a new version of PrestaShop).
>> Go to Back Office > Preferences > Enable Shop
Minimum order amount threshold. Create a minimum purchase total required in order to be able to place an order.
>> Go to Back Office > Preferences > Products settings > Minimum purchase total required in order to validate order
Bank Wire module. Accept payment by bank wire transfer from client account to your merchant account.
>> Go to Back Office > Modules > Payment section > Bank Wire
Newsletter module. (Re-built) Visitors can subscribe to your shop newsletter.
>> Go to Back Office > Modules > Blocks section > Newsletter block
Newsletter contact export. Export the e-mail addresses of your newsletter subscribers and use them with newsletter distribution software.
>> Go to Back Office > Modules > Exports section > Newsletter v2.0
Zones for Carriers and Taxes. Manage applicable shipping zones for Carriers and Taxes.
>> Go to Back Office > Shipping > Carriers > (selected Carrier) > Zone
>> Back Office > Payment > Taxes > (selected tax) > Zone
Enable/disable taxes. Turn taxes on or off store-wide.
>> Go to Back Office > Payment > Taxes > Taxes options
Enable/disable shipping costs. Disable shipping & handling costs for a carrier; useful for creating a ‘Pick up in-store’ option for customers.
