PrestaShop BlogThe release date of PrestaShop e-Commerce Solution version 1.0 is fast approaching. Rest assured that the PrestaShop team is working hard to make v1.0 available as soon as possible. In addition to fixing the remaining bugs in v0.9.7, we are also putting the finishing touches on a new slate of features.
The following represents the latest roadmap of major features to be included by v1.0. There will be other, minor features included, as well.
[Please note that PrestaShop reserves the right to alter this roadmap at any time.]
New default theme. We believe that in order to take PrestaShop to the next level in e-Commerce, we needed to improve our default graphic interface on a few key levels.
New default theme features will include:
Please note: The current (pre-v1.0) theme, and customized themes current PrestaShop users have based on it, will be backwards-compatible. In other words, it will continue to work with all core PrestaShop v1.0 functionality. However, new features that are theme-specific (listed above) will only be available in the new default theme.
Digressive pricing (Quantity discounts). The more the customer orders of the same item, the lower the price per unit. Please note that the ability to offer ‘packs’ of different items for a lower price is very different functionality and will be developed post-v1.0.
Real-time currency exchange rates. In the Back Office, you will be able to set currency rates to update automatically.
Customized product (text only). You will be able to let customers create their own text to be added to a product. Advanced customizing (e.g., dimensions, image upload) will be developed post-v1.0.
SSL encryption. By popular demand, you will be able to use SSL encryption for customer account creation and Back Office access, among other uses.
Google Adsense module. You will be able to place a block of Google Adsense ads on the Front Office.
Export products as a .CSV file. In addition to the option of importing products via .CSV files, you will now be able to generate .CSV files of your PrestaShop product data.
States/Regions/Cities/etc. information. You will be able to add an extra level of delivery-address and shipping information from values you define (e.g., states, cities, regions, departments, etc.). A list of US states will be included by default.
Stats tab. The first version of this tab will display sales data based on dates selected by the shop owner. Additional statistics will be added post-v1.0.
Improved attribute management. Managing attributes will be more intuitive and less time-consuming.
PrestaShop Documentation. On the new PrestaShop Website to be unveiled soon, we will be featuring a new Shop Owner’s Guide and a new Developer Handbook.
For your reference, the following is an incomplete list of features that will be implemented after the release of PrestaShop v1.0:
